At least you can still read an analogue clock... That skill will be gone in a generation.

Agreed. Exactly the same for me. At its most comfortable the top of the steering wheel obstructs the 80-120 range on my speedo. Don't think the cops'll think much of my excuse though!

+1. Not my bag either, but each to their own of course, as long it's safe/legal.

Those are pre-facelift headlights. FL ones look like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-564623973.htm Probably cheaper to buy from eBay and ship.

Sounds good. What do you charge?

Cool. Is it possible to recode the DWA in other ways? I've always preferred the alarm to be disabled if the remote key fob is used but not the key lock. Would also quite like the indicators to flash when the alarm is enabled/disabled (or locked/unlocked).

Clever! How?!

Saw a brand new silver M5 this morning. It lives on Richmond Road in Grey Lynn. Really like the current shape but the car was much too quiet for an M5!

Put a new squab in the driver's seat and replaced the little pins that clip the bowden cable that adjusts seatbelt height on both front seats. Ended out chopping up the old squab to pad out the driver's seat a bit as the springs have slackened a bit over time. The seat doesn't look perfect but it's super comfortable now.

One careful, lady owner.

Help with Compact colour choice. Any one know photoshop?

No offence to Renault but the scheme looks significantly better on the GT3 IMHO. -
You're welcome. I've only been a member for a year or so since I bought my first E39. Bimmersport's been an awesome resource and I've met lots of really helpful and knowledgable people. Good luck with the hunt and looking forward to seeing pics of the wagon. A mint E39 motorsport wagon is on my wishlist to sit in the garage next to my sedan!

If NZ sources fail there's always flea bay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40...6706&_rdc=1

Very cool. Your 535's got some serious toe on the straights! Love the sound!!

Unless you can do all the work yourself I think it would quickly becoming more expensive than doing up a high kms M5. The engines are no doubt just as hard to find as the cars themselves - though you may be able to ship one from overseas... But then you need new just about everything else, brakes, suspension, exhaust, and so on... (the list will be very long). EDIT: I would love an E39 M5 - dream car - but if I'm really honest with myself I could never do it justice. I've never driven on a track - and probably wouldn't have the kahunas to put it through its paces if I ever did; most of my driving is around town, and when it's not - what opportunities are there on NZ roads to really test it to the limit? It might be the best car in the world to go around a roundabout at full tilt... sideways - but will I ever do that? Almost certainly not. So, although I'd love an E39 M5, for less money, I'm really content restoring my 528i - which has bags of power for my driving ability and style - to its former glory.

I used Car Folie on my car and they had a similar deal but it's for the FX-ST Classic tint only - http://www.carfolie.co.nz/3M-car-tint.html - I ended out spending a bit more (think it was around $350 all up) for the full monty Carbon Supreme 35% tint. Nice and dark, great for keeping the car cool(er) and they did a really good job of removing the old warped tint on the rear windscreen without damaging the demister lines. Highly recommend them but would also highly recommend opting for Carbon or Carbon Supreme.

+1 - By far my favourite BMW shape, though I could live with the new M3s and M5s and the latest M6 is a grower. Not a big fan of the E46 M3 coupe - too small for my taste but I would love to drive one!!
-
And outrageously expensive. One of the ones on TM recently went for $22K on similar kms.
-
I'm always on the lookout for E39 M5s as well - though I don't have the money right now to buy one! There were 3 listed on TM in the last few weeks but I guess they've all sold now. You can pick them up really cheaply in the UK - though presumably 10-15 year old cars will have had a harder life in their climate - and ship them for relatively low cost. Not sure how easy it would be to meet emissions and register them but I expect they would qualify as classic or special interest.

Bugger, just round the corner from me and my mum-in-laws on Albany Rd. Better keep mine indoors.

Nightmare... Where in AKL was this? Looks just like my street!!

Cheers Michael. There's a good how to here: http://www.lostride.com/how-to-reset-unsti...unroofmoonroof/ I had the seats out last weekend so had unhooked the battery. Didn't know the sunroof needed resetting after that! All sorted now.

I think it's pretty normal from OE brake pads but there are low dust, low noise alternatives. Most of the low dust, ceramic pads seem to perform less well, the Posi Quiet ones I bought were cheap and had good reviews. So far they've been really good. Performance seems on a par with my original pads and they're certainly much quieter but they've not been on long enough to comment on the dust. I guess if I was driving hard they may not perform as well as the OE brakes but that's not really my style so very happy with them so far.

As in push the button in (tilt) rather than push back for full open? I'll try anything once... What is the resync supposed to do?
