    M TOY M3

Tried Lux soap flakes this weekend on seats and my old steering wheel (currently refurbing M sport steering wheel so had nothing to lose!) - great results. Has brought seats and wheel to light satin finish. Another good clean will probably bring them back to matte. Gave all the leather a good dose of Meguiar's leather conditioner afterwards so it didn't dry out from the soap. Awesome - thanks for this piece of advice!
  2. There's been an underlying fault that shows up on the scanner to do with the sun roof mechanism (can't remember the fault code) but it's always worked fine so I didn't pay too much attention to it... Until today. Opened okay then didn't want to close. I could hear the click of the motor trying to engage but no movement. It only closed when I turned the ignition off and on. Have left it closed but wondered if anyone knows any common issues... And whether it's a DIY fix or back to the shop?
  3. Pass your exams first.... If someone wants to give you $10-15K for the car then spend some time removing the dip!
  4. I agree with the others on this... I'd make sure the shots with ///M strips are removed and I'd make the shot with stock alloys the default pic. You can say in the auction that the car is currently in stock condition and the black wheels have been removed if you don't get a chance to take more pics. There's another white E39 - a 540 - with similar kms that is on there for double your price so I think yours will then look a great deal, instead of looking like it's cut price because of the mods.
  5. One of the owners of Stephen Marr (I think the Newmarket branch) has one - there can't be too many around. I see it parked outside the Ponsonby Rd branch all the time. Does look good (though I still prefer the E92 in gloss black or red) and they frozen grey is probably a lot more practical than white or black IMO.
  6. Not planning to do anything to my exhaust but keen to learn more about this... Got time to elaborate, Josh?
  7. This would look excellent next to my 528i Cosmos black sedan. Not sure the divorce that would come with it is worth it.
  8. Just had the new pads installed and machined the rotors (had a bit of judder on hard braking which is now gone). They've literally only been on for a 15 minute drive back from my mechanic so it's too early to tell how good they are however, they do say they don't require bedding in. I would say they take fractionally longer to bite than the ones I had but I don't drive it that hard and if the pay off is clean wheels and zero noise (and so far all the little squeals have gone) then I'm happy and the performance was more than adequate for normal driving. Will write up in a bit more detail when I've had longer to assess and review the noise/dust issues.

This one doesn't look too bad for the money. Exterior's a bit rough but interior looks good. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=56296229...c=&ct=image
  10. I think, but can't guarantee, that his main reason for on-selling is because he's a car dealer and grabs any opportunity to make a few $$s!
  11. There was a tidy metallic grey one at a dealership on Great North Rd near Ponsonby. Think it belonged to one of the dealers - a young guy - he may be a member on here. Pretty sure he was willing to sell for the right price (which might be totally wrong for you - from memory he wanted around $45K). A few on TM that are much cheaper than his high asking price though - you've probably already looked: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-559320804.htm You might want to take the sail of this one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-561832831.htm Low kms (if genuine): http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-560619695.htm Tom (M3_Power) can give you lots of advice when looking, I reckon.
  12. Sounds complicated... I'd just get the Dynavin - or a knock off - that is straight plug and play. The sound quality of the existing system is excellent and unless you want the street to shake when you drive past, it's more than adequate in terms of volume. E39's are well sound-proofed too so the interior is pretty quiet - you don't have to drown out engine or tyre noise. Much easier to on sell if it's factory (or OE -looking).

Not made on Valentine's Day though... Unless he was 3 months overdue.Happy birthday BTW.
  14. Fair point... But would you buy a car because the person who designed your shoes drives one? Do you even know the name of the person that designed your shoes, Graham?
  15. The friend that BMW supports is a shoe designer... I think you can imagine the target market.
  16. Big fan of your 635, Brent. If I had a spare $10K I'd be keen as mustard... The B7S is pretty special too!
  17. Agreed. A friend of mine has one as part of a sponsorship arrangement with BMW. Hers is also white with plenty of signwriting on the outside - so equally conspicuous. I didn't mind the interior that much but the ride was hard - though I haven't drive one. Not a huge fan of the shape.
  18. This thread hath become both vexing and perplexing. Henceforth, I shall simplify the central debate: Do you prefer your door and bumper mouldings... a ) Painted b ) Unpainted That is the question (Tristan!) Bimmersport poll... TBH, I go both ways depending on the colour of the car. I can live with painted mouldings on a grey or even red/blue car, but don't dig it on light colours like white and silver.
  19. Really like the gran coupe, could even live with a white one! Which engine?
  20. Sorry, not come across it. Personally, I'd miss the factory look that you got with the Dynavin (and the Dynavin knock-off that I got), this one looks very much 'aftermarket' so won't blend into the dash.
