Pictured below

The hose kit in your trade me link will be fine for a WOF because they are a direct replacement kit not a piece together type kit with the screw on fittings, i have the exact same kit on my e30 and have never had any wof issues.

Having a clear out of the garage and found all my old M40 engine parts that i no longer need so i thought i'd see if anyone wanted any of it before it goes to scrap metal.
B16 engine just had a recond head and new lifters before engine being removed due to running a big end so really only good for the head $80
Sump pan no damage $50
Franklin Cams Mild race cam 270 Duration 10.9mm lift brand new only in the engine a week before removed SOLD
B18 Short block good cond. $50
Have all the engine accessories also, if you need anything else just ask and ill see if i still have it all going cheap.

Thank you for that pin out chart, I checked the adaptor I had against it and found two wires had been mixed up, all sorted nowok thats a october 93 325i manual car ecu .
so i wouldn't think that will have ews..
-
I have a sump $100 if you want it
-
Most of the wiring hasn't been removed since it was running in the e36, I'm running a harness adaptor but I'm not positive the wiring is right for my conversion, does anyone have a proven pin out that works? It's going into a 316i factory manual nz new, cause looking at it this weekend I noticed the IAC valve hums with the key on...ews was not really done untill late 94 /95 etc
have you double checked your wiring , crank sensor plug in the right place etc
do you have power at the ecu??
power at the injectors??
ecu will not activate the spark or injectors untill it detects the engine cranking
whats the part number and vin number on the ecu
The vin isn't readable on the ecu I managed the last 7 to be jb02528
The ecu number is 0 261 200 413 red label
Any help is really appreciated

hi guys
im doing an M50 swap into my E30 and seem to have hit a snag with the ecu, i have a red label 413 DME wiring is all done and the engine cranks but no fuel or spark??? is there anyway of telling if my ECU has EWS I or II by looking at it? if so can i get a chip to bypass it or am i better trying to find another ECU the car it came out of is that i know its from a 10/1993 e36 manual 325i
any help would be greatly appreciated

how much for the hood lining, b pillar trims and the black trims at the bottom of the inside of the doors, that sit over the door rubber.
-
I appreciate the help, I suppose ill find out when I put the engine inAh well, not like I've done this swap before
Will fix for misinformation sake aha

Usually around $450 might be more if you go for OE oil rather than a compatible substitute.
I wondered that... As much as 5°?

Well if your trans temp is at 70 degrees and runs through the cooler which is normally on the return side of your engine cooling system then drops by 5 degrees it will have some flow on effect. I have seen (in a Toyota) a trans temp drop of 12degrees just by servicing the trans
-
I'd say that some of the reason behind the temp drop is due to the temp of the trans fluid being lower now that its new. If the trans fluid is colder now than before that means the temp in your trans colder so its not heating the engine radiator up as much which may give you the slight drop.

the main thing im worried about is the gearbox if that fits im happy to alter the restJon is wrong on the G240 as far as i know, in my conversion, i used an M40G240 and needed to run the M20G240 linkgae and driveshaft to make it all work.
good luck!
-
Awesome thanks for the info, in that case i dont need to buy anything i just assumed that the m40 bellhousing was different to the m50. Its going into a 1989 f/l 318i factory manual.Only if it comes from the 318i , the m20 one will sit on the wrong angle like the g260.
m40 motor sits on the same angle as the m50 (and same bellhousing between m50, m40 , m20 etc), so the getrag 240 from a m40 e30 will bolt right in place using e30 linkage, sit on the right angle so no need to modify gearbox mount.. But then you will probably get some one crying about it not being strong enough.
-
the e30 240 gearbox fits right up?Getrag 220, fits with e30 g240 linkage and driveshaft.
Getrag 240 from a 318i fits with no mods required.
-
as per title, im after a gearbox to complete my E30 M50 conversion. Aslo looking for a driveshaft, crossmember and selectors to suit.
-
where abouts are you located?
-
you still have the door cards and parcel tray?
-
Thought i'd add a link to a couple of photos of the before and after of my E30 build, will upload some pictures of the engine later.
