  1. From first hand experience and comparative tests I've done, there is very little difference between the 5W and 10W. The main problem is not the power of the LED itself, but rather the design of the bulbs.

The LEDs are wide beam, and hence only a very small portion of the light actually goes into the fibre optics. The best design uses the brightest LED combined with a chrome parabolic reflector to focus the light - the end result is much brighter halo..

If you're interested, I can email you an image illustrating the difference and where you can get these...

  2. Theres a couple of pins you can short out to test whether the start motor is functioning on the OBD port (can't remember off the top of my head which ones).

But chances are, the contact brushes have worn out.

If you've got some basic skills, I'd recommend getting some brushes (I got mine from BNT) and soldering them in - cost me $15 when I did it last year.

Thanks. At this stage I'm hoping it's just the relay otherwise time to look for a starter motor

  3. Hi guys,

I've got a problem with my E36 windscreen wipers stuck on "stopped car" mode. So this means that my wipers always have a very long delay except for when its set to lighting speed.

I've tried swapping the wiper module with one which I know works properly, but it didn't help.

I'm now thinking maybe its missing the vehicle speed signal. Would anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

  4. Hello,

I'm currently in the process of cleaning up the mating surface on my M20B25 aluminium cylinder head and was wondering how clean does it need to be?

I've carefully gone over it with a razor blade and scraped off all the old gasket material that I could. However, there are still black areas around the coolant channels which I'm having trouble cleaning up completely. At the moment it feels smooth to touch.

Would it be necessary to get the head surface completely spotless? If so, how would you recommend doing so? (Without skimming the head - mine is straight, and I would prefer to keep the factory compression ratio)

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  5. Theres a small hair line between the combustion chamber and the coolant channel in cylinders 3 and 5.

Can send you a couple of pic's if you're interested.

It actually drove fine before I took it out, just a small amount of coolant and oil mixing.

Where is it cracked? What is the cam and valves like etc?
