Hey guys. I'm trying to help my grandparents sell their Holden Commodore (the don't really use the internet). They have owned the car from new and it only has 148,000km's. They are looking for $5,500 but will accept any offers near the buy now. Trademe link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.as...297&ed=true (ps: I can't add photos but if anyone else can post a few photos from the TM link that would be appreciated) 2000 Holden Commodore Acclaim 3.6L V6 - Airbags - Traction control - Electric Seats - Cruise control - Central Locking - Holden alarm They have had it serviced every 10,000km's and have the Service booklet with appropriate stamps. Has always been serviced at Holden dealerships (usually in Paraparaumu, Kapiti Coast) I am looking after the car until it sells. Can be viewed in Johnsonville, Wellington Cheers, Laurence

You won't be able to cover it under contents insurance as it's a motor vehicle, so will need motor vehicle specific insurance. In any case you will have to take out your own policy because you own it ie. it won't be covered under your relatives insurance. 3rd party fire & theft would be the way to go but you need to check with the specific insurance company if you are covered while it in the garage where you don't reside. My 2c I thought i'd come up with a short list of positives and negatives off the top of my head. Feel free to add to the list. Just my thoughts.. Positives: - Great news for 10-20% of drivers that actually maintain their cars regularly, regardless of what the WOF check sheet says. Will save money on WOF checks for classic cars, daily drivers, new buys etc - Great news for businesses looking to save money on brand new fleet vehicle WOF's - Great incentive to get people buying newer vehicles and reducing the age of the NZ fleet by making older cars less attractive. - Great news for people with a few vehicles. I know plenty of people with 3, 4, 5, cars that will save $100's a year on WOF's when they regularly service their vehicles already. Negatives - Bad news for people that no nothing about cars and only get problems fixed when they fail a WOF inspection. - Bad news for anyone that only check their wheels, fluids, wipers, components etc every WOF check. - What happens when that small oil leak that would have been checked at the 6 month WOF and had a new gasket fitted now becomes a full engine rebuild at 12 months because they ran around for 8-9 months with no oil in the engine? - Or the above with no water? or no auto fluid? Or bald tyres? or wiper blades, or batteries... - Bad news for people already flouting the law. Now they will have an extra 6 months of running cars with no WOF checks. - Bad news for genuine mechanics who take pride in looking after their customers that will lose a LOT of business or have to push for more service checks. IMO I can see the cost of the humble WOF check going up OR mechanics pushing clients for mid-year service checks to keep business ticking over. If that happens it's a good thing but won't it just mean people are still visiting the mechanic just as much, and taking just as much time to drop their car off.. The only difference will be 1 yearly check will be a WOF check, the other will be a service. I don't mean to sound pessimistic.. Just have some concerns. Laurence

Hi Guys, We are selling our family car. 1995 Subaru Impreza Gravel Express. Has done only 137,000k's and had a full service around 120,000km's. Details are listed on the trademe auction. Genuine reason for sale. Trademe link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-552875784.htm Thanks, Laurence

Sounds like fraud.. Lay a complaint with the Police. provide a copy of your bank statement etc showing you deposited the $55 into his account. Provide them with a copy of the txt messages on your phone also stating he posted it on a public holiday. Provide them a copy of his trademe account showing the mobile number is the same. Then get the complaint sent down south. If he wants to rip you off the Police can pay him a visit and put the pressure on him to PROVE he hasn't ripped you off. Don't do anything lowball that can come back to bite you. Just go through the proper channels Cheers, Laurence

Hi Stephen, Don't have much time to get online these days. Have an 8 month old baby. Regarding the steering wheel there is no boss kit unfortunately. I have a feeling it came off my old e21 (which is going back 6-7 years). I was unpacking some boxes in the garage and found it. Still in very good condition though. Laurence

Hey Guys, Well I was cleaning out the garage today and I found a very good condition Autotenica steering wheel + Jet horn with BMW logo. Cleaned up really nice and it's listed on Trade Me with $1 reserve. Trying to upload a photo. Will do it soon. Meanwhile, check out the listing: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=547762482 Edit: I've tried to attach a photo but can't. If someone can copy/paste the Trade Me photo into this thread that would be appreciated. Thanks, Laurence

Thanks, After some further research i've chosen the Autowatch 5 star alarm. The battery back-up siren is digitally encoded and this means I don't need an override key or to have the unit in an easy to reach position. Needless to say any potential crooks would have to remove some serious body panels to get to the battery back-up siren to turn it off Cheers, Laurence

Cheers for the feedback guys. Going to see a few companies around Wellington this week. AVS and Mongoose are on par price wise at around $500-$550 installed for the 5 star rated alarm. I will try my luck and see if I can get them down in price a bit and go from there. Cheers, Laurence

I'm looking at installing an alarm into our family car and the insurance company has recommended a 5 star alarm. Had a check on Trade me and there are a few options and alarms seem to be similarly priced. So i'm looking for some feedback.. pros/cons of different brands. Seems the popular alarms are: AVS S5 Mongoose M80G Uniden VS2600 Any other alarms I should be looking out for/consider? Cheers, Laurence

is it just me or did anyone else notice the lady in scenario "3" trying to walk her child across the road, right in front of the 4x4 turning left??? Holding hand is a good start but what if the kid lurches forward/pulls away? Too close to the intersection and car! I really do wonder sometimes... Laurence

I had a tyre guy trying to 'lever' the tyre off the rim on my BBS RS's when they were replacing a flay tyre. Left a huge flat spot on the rim.. needless to say they ended up paying for the rim to be fixed. Half-arse jobs are becoming all too common these days. Laurence -
Get to it ppl... 10 votes behind the leaders.. Please vote tonight if you haven't done so already.. Who said a little friendly competition was bad for ya Cheers, Laurence
