Drove the Eferty to Newmarket with 3 other big guys in the car, the rear wheels had a 2cm clearance with the wheel arches (but thankfully we made it safely without injuries). The pipes however had seen better days than today, had to get someone off the car just to get through the gates back home :| Time to get flatter pipes

Just to start off this project thread, haven't got much photos of what I've done so far (ceebs taking photos and doing things at the same time), but I'll try my best to upload photos of progress from the next week onwards when I'm getting down and dirty again with the Eferty. A few things to note down i.e. things I've done so far: - A well-deserved car wash and interior cleaning - Took the car to my mate's and did a full under-body check and found a few things of concern - the power steering hose is leaking (not much but you can tell it's been leaking), brake hoses have been replaced (so all goods), just bits and pieces overall ain't too bad - Response was sluggish, so found that the aftermarket cone filter did a piss of a job, so plugged back in the original factory filter box in and voila - Mucked around with the throttle cables - Engine oil change and of course the oil filter Things to do: - Radiator flush - Transmission fluid change (might be irrelevant seeing as I'm going to do a manual swap over the summer) - Valve adjustments - Timing belt change - Check distributor - Rust spots and patches around the car in places that you can't see and some on top that might need tending a.s.a.p - Check and fix where the leaks came from Honorable mentions: As I was doing the engine oil change last weekend, I recalled the previous owner mentioning leaks into the car. So I re-checked the interiors and found that both passenger and drivers floors are damp near the front (after the storm, probably). So nek minnit, both seats are out the car, the center console took apart, the carpet went out, and boom. Rust spots here and there. New discovery. Priority up there is to fix the leakage points possibly re-routing the drainage if possible so I won't get a repeat and tend the interior rust. Planning to leave the carpet out of the car so maybe will re-paint the interior. Keep this updated. E

It's an E30, it's a 320i, it's white and shiny Tourist dude couldn't his eyes of it

Been lurking here long enough to be bothered to make an introduction. Basically, started with this: bought this whitey last month from a fellow Bimmersport member, and been working on it since (will start a project thread soon). E30, 320i Japanese Import, automatic going to a manual over the summer (all my cars are manuals...), the rest is just in need of some more love

Have the same problem with the rust after taking out the carpet and stuff, might be worth to check for leaks into the car esp from the firewalls

how much for the steering wheel?

How much are you offering for the OBC? Does it still work? i.e. backlight bulbs etc. Doing a retrofit in my '88 320i so would love to have the OBC console as well as the whole wiring harness from the OBC to the back of the instrument cluster which splits off into diff. wires or what not.

Took the cone filter out and put back the original in after cleaning it, took out the spark plugs and gave them a check/clean, re-fitted everything in and hallelujah kickdown. The culprit was the cone filter - found no use whatsoever to the car's performance-wise as there was just too much air to create a good vacuum. Mended the throttle cabling too. The new oil filter, sparks and etc. are picked up tomorrow hopefully will get that sorted by weekend On the side note, mechanics are going back down to original state until the problem's all rectified then work my way into fine tuning it.

Any suggestions for valve adjustments too? Will probs. get them all done on Sunday.
-
Yeah they are known to have a heavy throttle but this one's pretty heavy. Gonna change all the sparks, oil filter and what nots on Sunday. And yes, the kickdown's pretty lame. Feels as though there's a lot I need to do with the engine

Hey everyone, I've just started with some engine/mechanical re-tunes on the E30 I've just bought, but does anyone know where I can get cheap good quality throttle and transmission cables? They need a bit of a re-cabling i.e. new cables as the old ones are making the throttle quite heavy and unresponsive. Personally I prefer a lighter touch to the throttle to blip the car going, but man this one's just too heavy :| Thanks
