  1. If your looking for an E30 BMW class car, let me know as a good friend is selling his and it's a genuinely tidy and good running car.

Yeah, the Primera dude (Sam I think..?) and I had a good chat. He was doing really well in that thing. Owned me in the corners with the semi-slicks he was running. To be honest he may have owned me in the corners anyway!

Yeah, it really is. I'm thinking I won't be able to go to tooooo many more track days before I start pricing up an E30 racer!

Thanks for the comments guys. ^_^

  2. Hey mate. Please don't feel ignorant for asking. I have spent hours upon hours reading about paint maintenance online and am still lost..:).

Basically it means that I take It right back using almost sand paper and then slowly work the paint back with a multitude of polishing pads and cutter fluid. Finally you seal paint and then wax which makes it a 7 step process in total.

I think you are from the HB? I live in Auck but am from HB and often back there. If needed id be happy to give you a little direction.

    Cheers.

Youll have to excuse my ignorance but what does a 4 stage cut and polish actually involve?

Car looks great by the way.

  3. Awesome to see this went to someone who really appreciates them.

I put an offer on this in Jan that was turned down.

Looking forward to seeing it come together.

As the title says I'm building a E36 M3 3.0 into a Targa Tarmac Rally car.

My history has been targa on and off for over 10 years, starting with a 4AGZE power AE86 and currently a stopgap DC2 Integra (R bits).

I really wanted to get back into RWD, or even 4WD, but the reliability of the BMW RWD sold me on that path.

Decided on the Pre EVO 3.0 M3 so I can compete in the 2000>3000 class, and avoid the grunters such as GT3's in the 3000>4000 class.

    The current plan is:

    > Car, purchased. NZ new 1993 with 133kms on it. A clean and tidy starting point.

    > Diff and LSD, Kaine Barry to tighten and install a 3.91

    > Gearbox, Kaine Barry to inspect and install a ~retainer strengthen (or something that sounded like that)

    > Clutch, Kaine Barry to install new competition clutch

    > Suspension. Chris from Suspension tech to install Bilsteins and new springs all around. Might do something better later.

    > Cage. Currently talking to Dan Slater. Although I originally wanted steel, we're considering moly due to the volume of bars we're installing.

    > Seats. Racetech 4009WHR

    > Front brakes. Competition AP 4 pots on floating AP rotors (325x32 j hook) from Essex racing.

    > Wheels. TBA.

    > Engine. Just a good tune and service.

    > Exhaust. TBA

    > Fire Systems. TBA.

    > Intercom. Stilo.

    > Camera system. TBA

The key date driver here is targa south island. They have never done it before, and maybe never again. Ideally the car would be ~finished for targa rotten-rua so we can shake it down.

Here is the donor. The wallet is shaking with fear.....

  4. Hey mate, where about said you have this done?

So I got this installed today and holy crap it's awesome!

    ClutchHose.JPG

I got it from BMSport (Bexley) in the UK (link). Top blokes BTW.

I'm astonished at the difference it makes. I know my OE hose was knackered even though it's only done 30k km's but I have never had the clutch feel this good, even when it was a new clutch and hose. This thing works perfectly and predictably across all temp ranges and the engagement point is now 1" from the top of travel, not 1" from the bottom of pedal travel. Clutch engagement itself is also more positive and much smoother. It's like driving a new car (and I will have to relearn the correct muscle memory, a few poor changes so far today already).

I was going to do it myself but after a fixed quote by Bellar's came in at a whole 45 mins it became illogical for me to do so. It would have taken me 20 mins to get the car up on stands lol. And that included a full three step bleed (gravity then bleeder then manual) to make sure it was 100% and a code read to compare with my results at home. Dropped the car off, had breakfast nearby, picked the car up, done. The job, including fluid, cost me less than the hose. Awesome.

Best. Upgrade. Ever. Just do it! :D
