  1. Good work! I may try that on my e36, but not on the e39, its a whole diff gig.

My father and I rewired the ABS control module ourselves when we got the ABS light on the dash in our old E36. Found the wiring diagram online, ripped the old crusty and broken cellophane wiring out and rewired it. Cost us a tiny bit of solder, some wire and time to remove, refit and bleed brakes.

  2. 12-15k to replace vanos with brand new which is pointless not only because you will still end up with a dodgy vanos but because you can buy kits and install for $1500 which will last longer than a brand new one.

If the head gasket and vanos is stuffed, budget 12-15k.... S series engines are expensive

  3. Tm believe there is 6k of work to bring it up to spec (for its age, not of a new car) pm me your email and I will forward on inspection sheet. Basically the vanos is stuffed and therefore lacking power, head gasket gone, sump gasjet gone, power steering hoses all leaking and a few other things which would need more investigation. I have viewed and driven it on behalf. Tell your mate to call me 021620633

  4. Drop me a line. 021620633. In away this weekend but will be around the following.

Yeah welcome Mark... I don't check this forum often enough!

I'm a '94 M3 owner. Just like Richard's (same colour too) but a lot rougher around the edges by the look. Actually Richard, I don't know if we've met. Looking forward to getting the two cars together at some point. I live in Ellerslie so same-ish neck of the woods.

I'm a bit of a noob so don't know how much I can help technically (or at least whenever I go to club meetings people say lots of technical things I don't understand). I seem to be one of the more active guys at track days though, so be cool if we could get some more e36s out to Hampton and Puke this year.

    James

  5. Haha really!? I thought he had pulled it off the market?

Awesome to hear you have purchased it! Would be great to catch up. I looked at that before I purchased mine. I understand he did a lot of work on it? I would be keen to see it and go for a ride to see what diff the Vanos overhaul has done.

I have a Dec 94, 3.0, NZ new in blue.

Drop me a txt on 021 620 633 and we can catch up. I am based in St Helliers.

    Cheers,

    Richard.

  6. All good!

For 200k I thought they looked pretty good too.

Very soft wire brush (brass) and small amount of brake clean! - See pic of it after clean up.

I also cleaned out the intake box, air filter and MAF sensor at the same time. Those things combined took a few hours and did make a slight difference! Either way, very satisfying and good maintenance.

  7. Cleaning the m3 plugs this arvo and was curious how you would read mine?

    Lean, rich? Ok?

They all were much the same abd cleaned up really well. But I noticed the gap was sitting at .6 when it should be .8. How much of a major is this? I tried re-gaping but the nodes were to soft.

  8. Hey mate, are you still wanting 24k for it?

Hey there. I think mine will be slightly above his budget as it is much more than just a normal M3 :)

Here is the link to my old post for sale. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/38400-e36-m3-30-95-euro-for-sale/

The car has now all the listed stuff installed and set up... It has got fully reconditioned Staggered Set of Forged Throwing Stars with polished lips.

There are also other things that have been done recently, e.g. new alternator, new silicone coolant hoses, new power steering hoses and oil, new gear box oil etc.. This is most likely to be the best well looked after, and best set up M3 on the market. It currently sits at 138k kms.
