Might try removing it and just see what happens? When my cars back on the road again As was said before, BMW put it there for a reason, but again i don't know why it's pointing away from the air filter, the airs got to travel further? As for the wirring noise don't think mine makes it?

Does this do any long term damage if taken off??? Am interested in trying it if it produces more power?

If i'm gettingyou right, when cars come from the factory to the car dealer they are not always reg'd straight away, not usually till someone purchaces the vehicle, sometimes the vehicles will sit on the yard for a year for example without being purchaced, when bought the car is reg'd for the year it was bought.Hope that makes any sense
