Hey man, I would grab j_tomos tbh. It's VERY well priced and with some slight mods here and there it will be a stunner. As usual, just get it checked out 1st. If you had made this decision sooner we could have done a swap Noooo don't say that! Nah, but seriously with the current prices of E36 M3's I have no doubt in my mind that they are hands down the best value for money when compared to any sports car on the market today. They are a true blue luxury sports car, a super comfortable daily driver and an absolute monster on the track. Also, the 3.0 engine is tough as an OX if maintained properly. I regularly tracked my car and gave it good stick to the surprise of many yet I never had to do any major work. Loved it to bits.

Yeh, I am very keen actually. I have 3 VERY good examples to choose from now so it's looking like I will be E30'n soon hopefully.

Cool, I am definitely keeping my eye on this

Right, now to find that bloody E30 I am modding my car before I even have it lol.

PM'd 17" is a tad big though isn't it? Will the guards need adjustment?

I kiiid I kiiiid, meant coupe

I am assuming the answer is no here but was wondering if an E30 cabro interior will fit into an E30 coupe?
-
So sad, seems like this car ended up in the hands of the wrong owner. Link

I am surprised no one has snapped up your car yet man, such a tidy example! I am still keen to check it out and take it for a spin ay. I am really wanting a genuine M325i coupe or something with some grunt like this DET. I don't think the ol 320 4 door will push the right buttons, but we can always try! As you said, it's definitely much easier on the pockets. -
To be honest, I don't think this guys is really keen to sell anyhow. If he was, he would have dropped the price ages ago. As some have suggested, it has been on Trademe for yonks now.

Hmm, did some quick browsing and it seems that a 325i M20 engine has about the same grunt as the CA from stock. Obviously this CA will be easier to tune however I am wondering if it's really worth taking this over a nice example M325i. Considering this guys is after the 7-8k, once the exterior mods are done I am thinking it's gonna cost a fair bit more than a very tidy example M325. Not to mention the CA will need a more attention when pushed on the track. Then again, you are bound to turn some heads in a "sneezing" E30 -

keeen azzz if the price is right! That thing would be a weapon... Needs alot of exterior work though. -
Yeh? A quick flick to Wikepedia shows a 30hp difference
-
OOh, forgot to include the "custom overalls" in that shopping list too hah. I hate going in the garage now because I see all the trac day kit just sitting there. Yes, Greg I do miss it
-
Dunno... wouldn't an M325i be better / more power? What is so special about the 318is?

Good on ya Mark, you gonna have a blast man! The boys have pretty much covered it all, go see Riley and the boys and I am sure they will sort you out. There is nothing to it really, when I took the M3 for the first time I just made sure everything was working as it should. I have always used a motorcycle helmet (without the glass visor) on track days and it's more than enough I think. I have 2 at home and would be happy to lend them to you if you want. Bonus about buying a helmet now is that you will always have one ready for when you want to go for a blat. Once you get bitten by the bug however... all this changes. You start getting a bit stupid and buy items like $2000 semi slicks and $700 racing pads etc.. all in the hope of boasting better lap times!

Thats terrible news. I am sure something positive will come out of it though, plus as you said at least you can salvage a lot of the $$$ parts. Chin up man, these things happen. I had a good mate of mine lose his pride and joy the other day due to a leaky fuel line which set fire to the engine bay. The sad thing was it happened while the turbo timer was running and we were away from the car so when we noticed it the car was totally ravaged
