  1. Hehe... thanks man, gave me a real boost . I saw you out in town last night, fark it was insane in Chch! Anyhow, yet to see what he has to say but hopefully will be a goer.
  2. Well just got off the phone with the dealer and he is happy to re-negotiate the deal. I think he might opt to fix the faults rather than give me more cash, we will see. I also had a good yarn to Guido (guy who did report) and he suggested that if the wear and tear faults are repaired it will be quite a good car. He mentioned he did a report for a similar M3 today and that "my one" ran much better as you would expect from a car that has done only 80,000km. So all is not lost just yet... I guess the ball is in the dealers court now. ....arab waits.....
  3. Yeh, that is my plan ay. I got advice from my current BMW mechanic and CHC BMW. Both said all the faults were mainly wear and tear and relatively straight forward but needed to be attended to. They both stated that the parcel tray tampering and airbag issue could cost quite a bit! All in all, they said the car seemed ok and the faults were nothing out of the ordinary for a 1994 car. I faxed a copy of the report to the dealer and will start to re-negotiate. I suspect he probably won't accept the current offer I have in mind as he probably will find some idiot that will snap it up.... Anyhow, seems like my dream might have to wait a bit longer but you never know. Will keep you guys posted.

    M3 pretty nice

The guys is simply asking for too much, mint or not. I would like nothing more than to pay him a visit and negotiate a price but damn where do I even start when he is asking for 30 grand!!!
  5. Got the report today so now it's time to make some decisions! From my initial glance through it's definitely not "mint" however there does'nt seem to be anything huge, at this stage I think the plan is to re negotiate my offer to allocate for the repairs required, in other words still keen. Then again I really want this car so my brain is probably trying to make excuses. This is where you guys come in to reel me back to reality, what are your thoughts on the report? What should I really be worried about and can you spot any tell tale symptoms? Cheers in advance guys, BM Workshop "Pre-Purchase Check" Report The Good - after market exhaust (sounding good) - after market sound system - strut brace - after market front shocks - after market alarm - after market breaks (good but also could be costly in future) In general he said the drive was very good, engine and transmission seemed fine and he assured me it was a very quick car as you would expect from an 3.0 M3. The Bad - tyres wearing on edges - service due - water in left front indicator - drivers door seal split - drivers door panel slight de lamination - left rear panel de laminating - headlining loose - interior light on left c pillar loose - boot rubber split - after market boot mat - tools missing - old weak BMW battery - needs wheel alignment - small marks on paint all around - alarm remote broken and taped up - still on original fuel filter - Actually a 1994 (explains why it has no passenger side airbag) The Ugly - air hose to air pump splitting - euro airbag light flashing while on road test (only happened once) - QUOTE: replacing unit costs up to $1600 + GST - passenger window dropping down and up every start up - OBC display faulty - QUOTE: $800 + GST - Rear shock mounts and stops worn - QUOTE: $350 + GST - Rear trailing arm bushes torn - QUOTE: $350 + GST - Drive donut cracked - QUOTE: $350 + GST - Heat shield rubbing on drive shaft QUOTE: $40 + GST The Possible - Brake light cirquit warning once QUOTE: $90 + GST (for switch) - ABS lit on startup (happened once) END Well I know one thing for sure, that report was money well spent. He seems very meticulous in his analysis (as you can see from the things he pointed out).
  6. lol bro, you getting more than you payed for it now!
  7. Thanks for the advice! I was very iffy about SMG from the start. Thankfully the one I am currently looking at is a manual . Still waiting for Guidos pre purchase check to come out >.< Will post results up once I get them.
  8. Yeh I would have to agree with you there, need the halos to give it the right look.
  9. Come on, you have to admit that angel eyes with eye lids look down right...
  10. Hehe, don't worry I also search "M5" almost as much but yeh still a bit early for one of those monsters!
  11. I called "Guido Locher" this morning and booked the M3 in for tomorrow. He is going to give it a complete check over and quote me any required repairs that may pop up. So hopefully will hear back tomorrow afternoon with the results...
  12. Hi guys, the dealer is suggesting I send the car to "Guido Locher" as it's 5 mins down the road from his dealership. Anyone dealth with this place before?
  13. Another thing I noticed about the OBC is that it seems to have the "basic optinos" only, is this normal for an M3? I would have thought it would have the fully optioned obc (such as the one in this M3`http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=140539729). Thanks man, we will see soon enough I guess .
  14. Thanks for the awesome feedback guys. I think I will definitely get a pre-purchase check from one of the BMW specialists mentioned, I figured the AA probably don't know a hell of a lot when it comes to German cars. I am pretty gutted I could not test drive it but to be honest it never got serious till I got back to Chch. I am contemplating flying back up to give it a test drive but I think it's going to be real hard with work not to mention its an extra cost. 99.99% sure it will be my dream come true so my main concern is that it's in tip top shape. With regards to the red car, of course I checked it out! I was probably the first one to see the auction as I have been typing "M" "3" into trademe almost every 5 mins ever since I got my E36 lol (practically worn the keys ). So yeh, when I saw one in Christchurch I immediately checked it out. It seems like an awesome car, but I prefer black with leather interior plus the black one has 20,000kms less on the clock and is $3k cheaper. The red car was also owned by a youth driver and has had some mods to the engine, I prefer getting an untouched stock one. Another big factor is the red M3 is actually a private sale not from that dealer (he is selling on behalf) and they don't want to trade so I would have to sell my car first, with the black one it's a swap + cash which suits me perfectly. And yeh, I know of pretty much every M3 for sale on trademe at the moment (don't we all?). Once again cheers for the great feedback, hope the inspection goes well... I want it >.<!
  15. Hi All, Back to pick your brains again. I am seriously thinking about getting this M3: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=140778457 Basically I was up in Auckland a few weeks ago and decided to go and see it, ended up having a chat with the dealer and discussed a trade in option on my car. We eventually came to an agreement which I felt was fair and hence am now seriously thinking of going ahead with the deal (basically getting it for $22k). The car looks a million time better in real life (those photos on trademe don't do it justice). From what I could tell the interior / engine bay and exterior looked mint however, unfortunately I never got the chance to test drive it. It's basically stock apart from the strut brace and a complete exhaust system with a 5zigen tip. He got the car AA appraised and apparently it has come up clean (yet to view it). So I have a few questions for those of you in the know: Are there any common faults I should look for? Is an AA check going to be enough (I was thinking of getting a BMW specialist to look at it also) ? Anyone have a recommended BMW specialist in Auckland that can test the car for me and roughly how much will it cost? It's a Singapore import should I really be worried seen it has very low kms and been in NZ for a while now? I have never driven an M3 before... and hence have very high expectation of it i.e. 0-100 in sub 6sec plus amazing handling etc.. am I wrong to think that ? This is no small purchase so I want to be sure of it before I go ahead, so any feedback would be much appreciated! Cheers in advance.
  16. Can I please get some contact details? I would like to come view it if possible. Cheers.
  17. Got a trademe listing? Any photos of the dammage? I am pretty damn keen on some M3 interior...
  18. It is a bit pricey but damn I love how it looks! There is not exactly many registered E30 M3's out there either... Surely that baby would be the next best thing.
  19. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...htm?key=1108079 looks pretty mint
  20. The guy selling that car is dodgey...
  21. Yeh, saw that earlier today. I hate Ti's , but yeh his ad confused the hell out of me.
  22. Yep, was a bit gobsmacked when I saw that one. Was like M5 5k... next... Wait... WTF! But yeh should be real interesting to see what price it fetches.
  23. Sounds mint, will pop in once you guys open
  24. Welcome! Another CHCH bimmer to add the crew , hope to see you at the next meet.
