I have just rebuilt my e30 M20 engine and went to start it for the first time today. I left the spark plugs out and turned it over to pump the oil through the engine and I got no oil pressure at all. What would cause this? I can only think of a blockage in the oilways or the oil pickup or pump is faulty. I just want to make sure its not something obvious before i go pulling the engine out...

And why are you getting twitchy about 10:1 compression this is lower than stock on a lot of cars and my Alfa ran more than that 30 years ago. Turbocharged cars require a lower compresion ratio because of the amont of air and fuel going into the cylinder.

I am thinking about doing an E30 with a v8 and dont know weather to use the 3.0 litre or the 4.0 bmw engine. What sort of prices would i be looking at for either of these engines? Has anyone on here done this sort of thing before? Im not that interested in the lexus v8 option...
