  1. if you have a hydraulic clutch fork setup like most bmws it has a slave cylinder on the outside of the bellhousing/gearbox and it pushes on a frok that pushes the thrust bearing to make the clutch work. like this now the hydraulic release bearing sits on the shaft and the fluid pushes the bearing out to make the clutch work like the pic in my last post. some of the reasons you would use it ......no room in the tunnel for the clutch slave and fork,.....cant find slave and fors for your bearbox...or like me you have a auto bell housing that doesn't have a hole for the fork or mount for the slave cyilinder and you cant find the fork setup anywhere to buy so easy option ......howe release bearing from summit racing landed for $208 and spend $60 at safe are brakes getting to lines made up.. 1 flexi line coming from the clutch line into the release bearing. 2. one hard line from the bleed nipple to the outside on the bellhousing so you can bleed the bearing from outside. that's about it.
  2. hydraulic release bearing lines made and also made a surge tank
  3. yeah its a 3.9 mate. will be good for a start and at least its a lsd so I can just try different crown wheel and pinions from there on, thanks again for that mate.
  4. no after a lot of researching the general thoughts from most that have raced e30s and still racing is the factory tank and postion is better then the droptank/fuel cell in the boot. so that saved me some money and ill just put a surge tank in the boot
  5. diff and axles all in also took all the stuff not needed off the motor and made some alloy plates to fill the gaps and keep all the crap out.. just running the ALT of the crank now. befor and after shots
  6. no all im wanting to do is keep the same centre LSD and just remove the .3.9 crown and pinion set and change it to others as I want them. I know the crush tube can be a pain but I was just going to mark the nut and count the turns to take it off and put it back the same. but my question is will all 188mm crown and pinion sets work.?
  7. so its not a case off pulling my diff apart changing the pinion gear, changing the crown wheel and putting it back as it came apart .? sorry not trying to be funny mate as I do take all the advise you give me on board its just I havnt played with ones of these diffs(well apart from locking them). put I have pulled apart and rebuild a lot of other diffs in the past.
  8. sorry if this isn't in the right place. but ive got a e30 med case 3.9 lsd and im just wanting to know what other model crown wheel and pinions will bolt to my lsd carrier. its for my race car and I cant afford a heap of lsd diffs so im just wanting to get a few other ratio crown and pinion sets. thanks for any help. dan
