  1. Ill do mine for $750 delivered to Auckland one day only tomorrow night. I'm coming up to collect something.......
  2. I have a set of 4, been sandblasted, powdercoated in silver. Haven't had tyres on yet. No caps. Whats your budget?
  3. Good basic test but i've had 2 cars where the pump would liven up, hum and dispense fuel breifly (enough to pass the sniff test) but would not run for long or maintain the required pressure. To fully rule out fuel you need to check pressure and flow, at the rail and the FPR which unless you have a high pressure gauge and some nous (not saying i have any ) its best checked by a professional. My E34 540 i would start fine from cold then start coughing as it warmed up and would not start again. There was fuel in the cylinders but i changed the pump on a gut feel and that was it. A hint was both filters were very blocked.
  4. According to the Dog and Lemon Guide they are awesome. I mean what other authority is there? A mate has one, sounds like a sewing machine and handles like a swissball.
  5. changed out rears and one side front springs on e30, now waiting for dealer to get the new nylocks that noone stocks in overnight. M10 x 1 - good thanks. Service manager - " we dont sell nuts sorry - oh wait do they have a part number" He will sell me non-bmw trans fluid for my e34 540i though, at $19.55 a litre.
  6. +1 These cars (old bmw's) are only a sensible financial option if you can do most of the required work yourself. If you are going to be paying someone for your maintenance work then prepare to spend big time, or get a camry. IME the 5 series seem to need a lot of suspension work which is at the risky/unpleasant end of DIY.
  7. are these from a V8 or a 6?
  8. 9. just removed a hard wired cellphone dock, cut out wiring carfully but now have no horn or sil. Fuses are intact, any ideas where to start?
  10. Did the rear shocks need shortening for the superlows?
  11. The Mitsubishi Mirage " let do it again" Ad Do what again ? - drive a 1500cc front wheel drive with 13" wheels, no head room and an extra gear stick that did nothing..... thankfully they all rusted away to nothing in the late 90's
  12. i see in your prev thread its on "sport suspension with new shocks" what is the spring/shock combo?

I see auctions like that with bids from a new account, no feedback and think "shill bidder" I would not bother with such bids and keep the auction looking legit.
  15. Check the actual flow/pressure of the fuel, not just that there is fuel at the rail. A dying pump can give a weak flow.
  16. Have same car Phil, nice when you flick it into sport at the lights and give it the jandal.
  17. Have decided to convert my FL 325i E30 using a manual box from a PFL M20. Trying to get the parts list sorted, have decided to do the RMS and re-kit the shifter linkage so its nice and tight.I like the look of a DSSR selector and new bushes but this will add $2-300 to the costs. Any comments on whether this is worthwhile or is the OEM setup ok if its all new? Seems i may need a different CSB and pilot bearing. Theres plenty of info online but any insight on this specific swap is appreciated. Regarding the clutch, is there a way to measure/evaluate the cluch for wear? Is it a good idea to machine the flywheel surface if the clutch is not being replaced? Cheers
  18. Ill be gentle with her, gentle as a lamb......
  19. on topic guys - its a springs thread
  20. I wasn't meaning to imply yours wasn't as SE, just that there are differences. didn't take it that way. I gues it would help if the car looked like a NZ SE though. Have taken delivery of manual donor today so am hoping for some warm nighttime temps.
  21. So maybe I should add its a UK import SE? I could go down the track of changing some of those cosmetics but anyone checking the Vin will see its a genuine SE rather than a collection of bits. Thanks for that view.
  22. Not trying to hijack the thread...but i had only one enquiry on my listing and that was asking if it was a manual.... Have decided to convert it now and will see what happens. Any critique on the listing or the car is welcome. Am also considering swapping the rims over for some 15" weaves. 325i SE
