Perhaps that ECU behind the glovebox is not for the Trans? Ill leave it there. THanks Chris00 for the right info.
-
The E30zone thread was correct. Up behind and above the glovebox there is a thick loom strand with two single wires bound to it. each is a blk/yel to blk with an inline plug. Undo these, connect the blk/yel's to each other using the existing plugs and its sorted. Have some pics i may try to upload. The reverse lights seem pretty simple. Now woundering about deleting the redundant loom and trans ECU? before i re-assemble the dash.

Do the have rods inside the chassis rails? If so I wtb.
-
Yeah will do, have read a heap of threads and none much mine

Nearly finished my conversion but my car had the sport switch auto and the wiring is different to all the diy guides I can find. Some show cutting out the auto plug and joining 5 wires, others show alterations under the dash. Anyone know this?

I love Volvos but an S60...really? i have a mental picture of a Volvo service manager rubbing his hands together... There are 3x 850r's on TM ATM, the red one in Taranaki looks nice - NZ new, spend a few $ fixing the AC and BAM!. No steering wheel buttons but they come with some head units.... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/volvo/850r/auction-689788833.htm That S60 will be worth $2k in two years when the mileage clicks over 100k's IMHO. (Probably only worth $2k now) The 850r is classy, solid, relatively cheap to fix and will hold value. Plus no-one ever regretted giving their mother in law a few extra hp....

1987 E30 318i manual coupe - How much is it worth?
Etwenty1 replied to lorryse36's topic in General Discussion
+1 on the M10, under-rated i reckon. one i had seem to rev out better than a m20b20. Maybe swap the diff for a better ratio and get the timing right on. -
Looong shot. Anyone have an E30 Coolant Temp Sensor lying around?

John, Still waiting for that bracket I paid you for over a week ago. Not sure why you are logging in every day but not replying to my messages... Common courtesy bro, have you sent it or not? If you have been too busy thats fine, can you let me know and hurry the Fcuk up?
-
Oops yeah sorry 22 of those grommets. I read lots of stories about the oil pump bolts working loose so I dropped the pan on mine. Some were definitely loose and the oil pump chain was slack past spec. Thats a separate job tho. Taking pause on mine at the moment thanks phil, after finding chain guide debris....... have an e30 and and an old mercury 50 that need some attention.

Rocker cover gaskets ( already on your list ) x2 plus 2x coil cover gaskets, 20x rocker cover washer plugs and get some hex head bolts to replace all the torx screws you will enjoy removing, if you do the PCV plate there are some special o rings needed. See like blue and orange ones; similar to : http://www.meeknet.co.uk/e31/Bmw_m62_pcv.gif

John, Have you sent my bracket yet ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
-
get a mobile mechanic to check it out - better than nothing
-
Was changing very smoothly prior to being removed for manual conversion - the best of 4 or 5 i have owned or driven. Includes shifter & TC. Excludes the ECU $150 pick up only from Mt Maunganui At this price keep it as a spare.
-
taken from a running PFL 320i with the side mount dissy. Intake and exhaust man separated, includes thermostat housing, injectors and fuel rail. Dissy not included. $250 ? Can get the head tested by reputable engine shop at buyers expense if needed. Will sell separately. PICK UP ONLY from Mt Maunganui

Have replied to your pm. Yep new clutch disc requires flywheel to be machined. My donor clutch disc was still good and about 75% thickness so I did the throwout bearing, RMS and tightened up the shift linkages.
-
looking good, you have the same ride height and shelley bmw sticker as mine, perhaps we should start a group buy of lowtec lowering springs, 45/20 maybe, currently Euro 333,00. plus shipping. http://www.lowtec.de/en/sport.php

+1 for gavin, he can supply pilot and throwout bearings too. I have the shifter part you need.
-
it runs around the front of the engine to a loom plug under the inlet manifold. The plug connection is held in a bracket under the diagostic socket IIRC. If you have a CPS on the crank pulley follow the lead on that - goes to the almost the same place. No idea what it does - maybe picks up an impulse from that lead and feeds it into the ignition system.

I bought one from the dealer and it was oval too. I got a engineer to fit a brass bush in my old one instead.
-
Bought this a while back from some farmers in the sticks, brand new engine by prev owner 100,000 kms ago costing $16,500 Is now finally starting to look tidy, have mended bumper and some fogs thanks to jeffbebe. Have some s/s headers from wayney to fit. Looking for the duct that goes behind the drivers side fog if anyone has?

Love that colour, those 7's look awesome on large dia hartge alpina type 19 spoke rims, with a schnitzer kit. IMO. An old boss of mine drove me from the tron to vegas once in a 750i and he was a maniac. After the Hinuera turnoff I couldn't watch and spent the rest of the trip looking out the passenger window whispering "make it stop". Got to drive it home tho' - didn't seem that quick off the line but effortless torque and acceleration over 100kms and was pretty agile for a big car. The running and servicing costs were eye watering back in 1995.
