Ok I would still like to replace the input shaft seal just in case, so if anyone has any info on the above I'd love to hear it. Ashkan?

I have a 260 here out of an E28 (I think). 260-01302-91. It has a lot of oil inside the bell housing and I want to fix the leak as I have just had the clutch plate resurfaced due to oil contamination. 1. Is there anywhere other than the input shaft seal that can leak oil into the bellhousing? 2. Is replacing the input shaft seal a DIY job for someone with no specialist tools? Thanks, Max.

Good to hear! ps, the spark plugs were only ~10,000ks old

Its a bit of a pain. Strut has to come out then you use stilton grips to loosen the locking collar that locks the shock insert inside the strut. You will need an alignment afterwards too. Best done under supervision the first time.

Weird, I had the tappets adjusted professionally when I got the cambelt done last year. Pop the rocker cover off and make sure everything is alright under there. You should be able to hear an exhaust leak... but again, the exhaust on there was installed professionally. I would come have a look but my car isn't very mobile either . If you don't get it sorted by this weekend I'll come have a look provided I get my own car together. Might pay to get it taken into Glenn on the corner of Ormiston rd and Te Irirangi drive, hes not far from flat bush. Best of luck dude.

Back on the hunt for a flywheel as it turns out the one I had was an M40 one.

Ok thanks Brent. Doesn't look like Auto Clutch are open today.

$100 for one with a crunchy 4th?

Flywheel hopefully sorted (just need to get it checked out by Bob), starter motor hopefully on the way, so I just need a clutch and PP. Does anyone know if an M20 clutch & PP will work on an M30 flywheel? I was thinking about something like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-348665447.htm

You all know this is Mitch right?

No, #2 is the TPS (throttle position sensor). Oil builds up through the intake on all the E30s I've owned, its natural. Comes from the breather hose from the rocker cover. Therefore I'd be suprised if this was the cause of your problems. I would clean the TPS, ICV, check for vacuum leaks, and possibly replace the intake manifold gaskets and injector O rings if you have time. The way the TPS mounts is adjustable. You want to have it so that it clicks with the throttle slightly open (1-2mm). Edit - The ICV is the tube thing off to the side of your rubber intake elbow. It should humm with the key turned 2 clicks.

The member "hotwire" does reconditioned starters for a reasonable price.

Spins all round when I've "tidied it up". Now back to Jack's thread.

Get a cheap auto 325i such as the one matty104 is selling, and convert it manual, thats where the value is at. I rekon a 2.8 will get you in trouble. I've just upgraded from 325i to 335i and its a real handful, spun it out on the first night even.

Broken record.

Theres a bit on the e30 zone wiki.

Bump. Keen to swap for a front strut brace, front sway bar, front konis or similar, urethane diff mount, stuff like that. I also have a set of wayneys M20 stainless steel headers I no longer need. They were used on Apexs touring with good results. No pics yet because they could use some autosol. offers.

Topic changed. I have sourced a G260 gearbox from an M30 powered E28. I need the front half of the driveshaft because of the larger flange on the output shaft of the gearbox. Please get in touch if you have a spare I don't want to just swap the flanges from an E30 G260. Thanks Max.

Yea I look forward to seeing what you do with it (I see you've already put clear fronts on). Hope you have as much fun with it as I did mate, make the most of the rest of the cruising period!

Does anyone have any of the current owners details? If you could pass them on to me I'd be much obliged. Thanks, Max. ps its the white 2002 with the turbo bodykit, numberplate TISPEC.
