  1. Agreed. My car has cost me far less than my mates with jappas, (mostly vtec hondas actually) and while they are way faster than my car they also cost them lots more. eg one got charged $800 for some distributor bearing on his B16A! That said, a couple had sohc 1.5 carollas and civics for first cars that they raped everyday and nothing broke.Seems that performance comes at the expense of reliability
  2. I'm still not sure about the whole "upgrade your shocks when you lower car" thing. The guy at the shop where i buy my suspension parts reckoned sports shocks were only worth upgrading to if your car was bouncing or you really want that extra performance that they give you. Said nothing about them destroying standard shocks. I will happily be proved wrong. That said, i found putting sport shocks in the back made an awesome improved in handling, they are definatly way better than standard. Up to you if they would be $1000 better than standard though. my 2 cents
  3. Sorry but that sounds like rubbish. Heaps of cops on the road don't know the road rules. My brother had one ask him what the conditions of his restricted lisence were. (Not checking that my brother knew, he actually didn't know). Also we've been involved with police call outs a few times and they always came pretty quickly and with a few cars, so i wouldn't say the quota is keeping them from "proper" police work.
  4. I'd say stay away aswell, body condition is a good indication of how its been treated. Also those 18's aren't going to be cheap.
  5. my old neighbour worked for wurth, so you must be able to get their products, just might be rebranded or something though.
  6. USA cheapest by far. Set of bilstein sports is $389US + $149US for air freight. Around $800NZ (At shox.com)
  7. what year/model? early E36's supposedly had a few problems with them that you should be wary of. BTW E30 is 3 series from 1983 - 1991 and E36 is 3 series from 1991 to 98/99?

    ouch!!

ouch, I'm pissed off when i use more than 10L/100K (and thats all city driving with a heavy right foot)
  9. Happy Birthday, naked run to celebrate?

    just for you mike

I'm glad to see the cutties and cromies brigade havn't started destroying Porsches yet, some of those 924 and 944 are getting pretty affordable. But sadly it is too late for some of the old mercs, bimmers etc
  11. Whats the deal when theres different sized tires available for your car, the E30's had either 195/60 or 195/65. Does it just mean you got a wider selection of tire sizes?

    E36 Parts

Hi all, my olds brought a new car, a 95 318i and they're after a couple of bits for it. The idler pully for the air con drive belt is shot so if anyone has a one of those for sale can you let me know. Radio is jap spec so were after NZ version Also after some factory alloys, nothing special, just 15's would be fine. Cheers, Mike
  13. meh, saw it there and couldn't resist. besides Damian knows I'm just talking sh*t (i hope)
  14. Could just do what i did, change the file extension to .mpg and then just tell people to change it back to original afterthey download it, rangi but it should work.

    Glovebox Torch

I think all 3 series got it. I still have my white torch, just doesn't work anymore,
  16. Ok, i just changed the file extension to .mpg, still played ok but if it doesn't then just change extension back to .wmv Quality aint to great but its the sound your after anyway. Also, says when I upload that the limit is 500kb Car_Clip.mpg
  17. Sorry, this is the best I can do, but I know how much you all want to hear the M10, so heres my beast: I have a 2 1/4" single pipe from the firewall back with 2 resonators of some kind and unknown muffler, courtesy of Glen :thumb: He'd know what it is better than me. EDIT: It wont let me upload, its just a 400kb *.wmv file, any ideas?

    Rising Rate FPR

Would it be possible to find another FPR of a diffferent engine and put that it? Like an M3 or M30 or something that runs a higher fuel pressure? Why do you want to change it anyway? I wouldn't have thought it would make much difference unless you were leaning out.

    Rising Rate FPR

Not 100% on all of this but the way i understand it thats just what a normal FPR does, with a RRFPR the ratio to which it will increase the pressure to vacuum is different, like 1:1.5 say. Why not just get an adjustable normal FPR. Apologies if i am completely wrong.
  21. So what does everyone think should have been done to solve the problem. What was ferrari's problem with say letting the michelin teams pit more often but no points count or something like that? Cos what happened at Indy was pretty ghey
  22. Hmm, have a look at the pics I posted ages ago. Still got that setup, hasn't changed. I got the comps powered off an amp, i don't even use my back speakers and I got a small D class powering the 2 subs. I set it all up my self over almost a year ago, didn't know a hell of alot about sound stage etc, just went and did it. To me its fine, goes plenty loud enough with out distorting and sounds fine. Of course any audiophile would probably be apauled but its fine for my ears. Tweeters aren't too bright and i have them -3dB facing towards me.
  23. sounds similar to my setup, any subs?

    87 M325i

Exactly what he said. High K's are nothing compared to poor maintenance. There are a few on here that 250K mile mark. Mine up to 245K and is still going strong. Rust is the big thing, as you would have seen from a few threads recently.
