You could get a volt meter and just check that your getting power from the right wires at the right time. If thats all good then it sounds like your headunits fukd, what is it BTW?

is that an old 6' interior? Words fail me...

hehe, almost worth 5 stud conversion just for those wheel, they would be awesome on a e30

What I was trying to say was that if its a front wheel drive offset it can still fit without spacers, depending on the shape of the wheel. Also, the offset is a measure of how far away the mounting point on the hub is away form the centeline of the rim, if you get what i mean by that. Basically, the only way to see if a wheel that has front wheel drive offset will fit is to test fit it.

Sorry but I'm confused about the displacement change. The only way to add displacement is to increase the bore or stroke. Changing the pistons or head will only change the compression ratio. Correct me if i'm wrong

I've also got the bently manual if anyone in wellington needs something info out of it. I also know someone who has an MK (its not DK instead is it?) Motorsport 2.7 cabrio. He's just spent thousands on a full engine rebuild and getting rust work and new paint job done.

Please give me a bit more credit than that guys. I was jacking the up so I could put the axle stands under, I only had my hand there to steady it while I was winding it up. I think the hand should be sweet in a few days, no driving for a while tho

I had a trolley jack but the lowering thing is in a really stupid position, I would have put it under the diff but then I wouldn't have been able to lower it. And I couldn't use it on factory jack points cos then I wouldn't have been able to put my axle stands there. Still, could have happened on the side of the road or something. One good thing though, the doc reccomended plenty of  I try get pics of dent and bent jack.

I'm talking about the big pics at the bottom of every post. I cant see the upload thing for that. When I click on image it asks for a URL

Its not the offest you have to worry about, if it a 7" wide rim it will clear the front struts with a front wheel drive off set, it the brake caliper you got to worry about and that somes down to the shape of the wheel.

Sweet thats a relief, I priced up a clutch and they aren't cheap.

Hey all, really shitty thing happened yesterday. I was jacking up car to install new shocks and I had to use the standard jack cos of where i was place the axle stands. Anyway I was doing the back right and I'm winding it up. I had my hand over the top of the jack to steady it. Then all of a sudden theres this bang and the car is stitting on the hand, my hand was trapped between the top of the jack and the body panel just behind the door. I was screaming in agony while my mate who luckily came to see how i was going tried to get the car off me. Anyway i somehow managed not to break any bones although my hand is twice its normal size. The stupid piece of sh*t jack had collapsed at the bottom. Not happy at all, to make things even worse the is now a nasty dent where the car was siting on me. So thru no fault of my own I have a f**ked up hand, a big dent, a broken jack and still the same old shock in my car.

just letting ya know that there are different length drive shafts arounds, even between manual 6 cylinder engines like 320 and 325 are different. BTW: 100 posts!

That's why I'm a bit worried, its not engaging until my foot would nearly be off the pedal, it only takes the slightest tap on the clutch to get it slipping, but it seems fine normally. How long can I expect out of a clutch, and how much is a clutch kit roughly?
-
WTF?Sorry if i'm offending you but is that a joke or do you not know that bmw bonnets fold foward or is there really something wrong with your bonnet? If its carbed it will probably have a round air cleaner sitting on top of the engine instead of a airbox.

While they might not make much power they still go pretty well. There are a few sites on the net where guys have done custom turbos and the cars were doing 0 - 100 in around 6 sec, thats not too bad, and plenty fast enough for me.
-
You'll have to post pics when your finished. What are your new seats like?
-
Another clutch question, my clutch doesn't engage until the very last bit of travel. Is that normal on E30's, cos it doesn't feel right. I don't notice any slipping or anything. Car has done 230k on what would be original cluth i suppose. Is the clutch on the way out or maybe something else?

Trust me, don't bother doing anything to the engine. My mate brought a 2.5 and gerabox for $600 that runs fine. Thats over double the power of your car. You would be lucky to get a 5kw gain out of your engine for that money. Spend money on suspension, wheels, brakes then when you have some money you can put a 2.5 and have a real decent car, or spend nothing and save up for engine now. Other option is debadge it and just have a looks and sounds car. Other thing, is it a 316i or a 316? I thought i meant injected and yours is carb. And it is an M10
