cheers guys! well mike... that was the problem and now thats sorted all thats left to do is fix the clutch and stop the engine from sounding like a tractor! i dont think its fireing on all 6 cylinders so i have a mobile mechanic coming to tell me what needs to be done. anyway cheers again mike, much appreciated. cheers. i went and tried to see what u ment but couldent. i saw a tick black and yellow wire but couldent see where it went. not wanting to be lazy, but just to check to see if it works which two wires do i twist togeather?

hey all, i am in the proses of swapping my 1990 320i's engine for a m20b25 along with swapping the auto for a manual. the new engine is in and all the components are in. the engine is a p/f block with all motronic 1.3 gear on it. i went to start it for the first time yesterday and got nothing when the key was turned. after learning a trick (screwdriver over the starter terminals) i managed to get it going. i then turned the key off and the engine turned off. but the engine will not start using the key. the voltmeter reads all the correct voltage across the starter motor and ive checkd the ignition switch witch is fine. if anyone has any idea as to why i cant turn the car on with the key please let me know! I know i shouldn't of but i used the 12mm Allen for the torx socket before i realized it was different and it worked perfectly.

Hey all, hoping someone on here could assist me with this... i have a 1990 320 coupe that just faild the wof on a leaky front left brake hose. so im thinking if im going to have to replace this and bleed the system i might was well replace the lot with new ones. so if im going to do that i have to chose between steel braided or standard hoses. so i need a bit of feedback as to what to put in my car and where the best place to get them in auckland is. New Images as asked for. as seen in the two images there is a small amount of rust up round the lights (the normal place) which i noticed while taking these pics. i just have to say the pictures make it look worse than it is and i will get in there this weekend and tidy it up a bit and put sum rust kill on it. also it is just surface rust and nothing that cant be fixed easily. apart from that this car is a mint example of an e30 and will come with the H&Rs coz they are a bi*ch to get in and out, and also coz they make the car look a million times meaner. hey all. looking at selling my 1990 320 Auto coupe. is an awesome example of a tidy well looked after coupe, has done about 205kms but still runs like a dream. had cam belt done at 180kms. -has new shocks all round -has had a new paint job in the original colour - looks stunning. -the car is complete and original apart from the H&R springs (still deciding if they will be sold with the car) -have painted the original bottle caps black, reddened the rear indicators and blacked out the front ones. -will come with a rego and new warrant. Awesome condition, came out of my wreaked car, has done just over 120,000kms and comes full of brand new oil. although it made it more difficult to remove, the oil was quite expensive and only about 100kms old. just to clarify... the rear set up is a direct bolt up job, right? using my e30 h&r springs and my existing shocks? and for the fronts: top hats need to be changed from e30 1s (im guessing this is a straight swap?). either use e36 m3 control arm or modify e30 one. (has anyone modified e30 control arms? if so what was the cost?) and obviously using the e36 springs, shocks, and breaks. BTW i have a 1990 320i coupe. if anyone can clarify this info for me, it would be greatly appreciated and i would be keen on buying this set up. cheers Ben

hi mate, now im not the most experienced about e30's on bimmersport but i have owned 3 in the past few years and have dismantled a few. getting an auto and swapping it to manual is not going to be necessarily cheaper and would only be worth doing (IMO) if you find an auto with an immaculate body and/or engine thats worth getting and swapping the trans' dont just do it to save cash. as for the model to get, the best is obviously the 325i and as for the year, as far as i know, the newer the better. unless you want to get an older Pre-facelift with the chrome bumpers (personally i prefer the look of the plastic bumperd facelift model) . millage is not a huge deal as long as its been well maintained. things to look for would be the normal ware and tear on the interior, including the crack in the dash (common E30 problem) although this dosent affect the car, its just to me a sign that its been well looked after. moister in the boot has been a problem Ive had in all my e30s, with my most resent having a very wet passenger side floor. check all electrics and make sure it all works. also check for rust in the arches and along under the sills (only places Ive noticed it) well that's the extent of my knowledge that i can remember at the moment, hope others will add to this. cheers And Welcome to the E30 scene!! good luck.
