  1. Am in the engineering industry and have bought tools for employees of different brands.

Most of the made in china just wont go the distance.

I have bought lots of second hand Stalwillie off trade me, and at a fraction of the price, it just takes time to get what you want. If you are not in a hurry to get all the tools, shop around and get brands that will last, it will be cheaper in the end.

  2. Really interesting thread, what makes a classic to anyone can be based on what was about while very young or growing up.

I always liked the MK2 jaguar shape and was set out to buy one, never quite made the Jaguar, ended up with a Daimler version as at the time I was buying it in about 1990 the Jaguar, and if you were getting one it had to be a 3.8, was so over priced it just did not make my budget. So I bought the Daimler V8, still have it now.

As time and money allowed we increased to several classics, the latest is a low mileage MK1 Ford Cortina that is the car lots of our family's would have had.

A few to add to the list of classics, Datsun 1200 coupe, had 1 years ago, and the Toyota corolla GT coupe

  3. Hi Kelvin,

What do you want to know?

have owned it for 4 years or more, its had bilstien shocks, jamex springs, AC s wheels put on it.

Factory manual, drives well, needs a bit of interior work, have recovered the front seats in black leather as the originals in cream were knackered, its an unmolested car that is just one too many, i have 5, and something has to go!

PM me if you want address or phone number to look at it.

    Ian

  4. I go to Melbourne every year, since 05 anyway.

Use a group booking for the first time. I have used Wiliments and starsas agents. Both about the same peice and offer the same kind of deal.

You can do 4 stands over the four days as a starter, or stick to one stand. I use Jones stand only, its a bit dearer but you are on turn 1, see turn 2 and have 2 big screens to watch.

Use good headphones with a radio as its the best way to keep up with the commentary as its almost impossible to hear anything without them.

Great atmosphere, the trams around the city are free if you carry the ticket so you can get to and from the track at no cost.

    Fantastic time!!

  5. Hi Guys,

Time has come to sell the e46 manual that i have owned for nearly 10 years.

Trouble is i really dont know what it is worth, it must have some rarity value as a manual.

Nearly done 125k, Hell red, Black leather, 17" BMW alloys, Skirt kit (factory extra), Full Service history by BMW Wellington, Near new Pirelli tyres.

So what do you think its worth?

  6. I can relate to both sides of this, I have been dealing with Dave Hadley for probably 20 years, would not go anywhere else. Good guys and they do know tyres and listen to what you want, and give sound advice if asked.

As for the Beaurepaires and Firestone shops, have heard the same about them, generaly inexperienced staff that dont know what they are doing or selling. As for arguing with the customers, they are ignorant of the basic rules of business! The customer is always right, even if he is mistaken, dont argue with them.

BAD reputations always travel faster than good.

  7. Nath,

If the car is turning over, then it nothing to do with the auto swap out as i see it.

Go back over all the electrical plugs, earth between motor ans body by the p/s pump, it has to be some thing simple as it ran before!

  8. The basics of the new law are that the employer can ask for a sick note for any day, does not need to be after 3 days, But is required to pay for it.

I deal in this area for work, as an employer, and through the EPMU Union, the new laws came in to being in April this year. You should look into this, also individual contracts will make a difference, as opposed to group or mass agreements.
