  1. hi Nath,

Will be at home tomorrow if you want to show me the free play, done several rebuilds on them, not hard unless its broken.

So my E30 motor sport seat has too much play in it to be safe on the track in the Intermarque series I want to enter the car in.

Basically my only way around this is to swap the seat out for a race seat + harness.

Before I do that, has anyone ever done this or something similar?

    http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82306

I want to know where the play occurs to where the seat moves away from the base, if you grab the top of the seat and check for play.

    Any help?

    Cheers, Nathan

  2. The bar is threaded left hand at one end, right at the other if i remember, to allow the adjustment of the pedal and booster.

You are probably trying to match left to normal (right hand ) threads. My advice would be to cut the 2 or 3 threads off and put it back, its normally got lots of spare on the end.

    +1

How did you do that Max ?...what were you trying to do ??

  3. Where do you start!

#1 Valiant Charger, Orange and auto, basic 6 cylinder model, Drifted from lane to lane on its own, only car I have ever owned that cost more in oil than petrol to fill each time!

#2 Austin Maxi 1500, Bright Yellow The early on that had the smaller motor with less power and no looks! Leaked as much oil as the Charger used!

#3 Mitsi Celest 2.0, Gold with the black and white checkered interior, more rust than I thought possible, drove it to Auckland once and used a 4lt pack of oil each way.

Some thing about the cars I have owned in my youth being oil burners or leakers, all had crap handling and were more than just tired.

  4. The early cars did not all have side repeaters on them, I have had at least 3 323i's and none of them had side indicators on them. I fitted 1 car with them but only because i replaced a guard that had them on.

I think the laws on this are " what was originally fitted to the car" same as not needing a high stop tail light before 01 01 1990

    My 2 cents!

  5. From past experience i found that the shafts are also "pinched" by the head studs.

I had to release the torque on the studs to move the shaft, this runs the risk of head gasket leaking afterwards.

I got away with this, but only released the studs till i could move the shaft, and retorqued to standard plus 10 foot pounds more to be safe.

Not recomended, but did same lots of dollars and time to fix a broken rocker in my case.

    Hope this helps!

  6. As topis title says, My NZ new 325i is running a bit rough, Normally a smooth running car has developed at between 2k and 3k revs in any gear what starts as a flat spot in acceleration and is now like an intermitant on off power. ( if that makes any sence )

Tried most basic things like the plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump etc cant seem to make iot better, and is slowly getting worse.

Wondered about TPS, as its worse if you maintain an even throttle.

    Any ideas??
