  1. Hopefully it will be delivered to him tomorrow. Even if he is a pom
  2. Thanks for the help Simon, I'll give him a call tomorrow.
  3. Hi, I've got a 2L 731 head in hawkes bay I need to be assessed, confirming how many valves I need to replace. Then it all needs to get put back together, and the valves reseated. Any recommendations on shops or ideas on how much it might cost? I would like to do it myself but I need my car running asap for work when I return so having the head ready is a must. Thanks
  4. My shocks got broke, and didn't realise till I was going down a hill, on a steep corner. Got massive understeer on a tight corner and just managed to keep on my side of the road.. coming out of a corner I nicked another car and did a 180. 1979 honda accord.. needed a new door + $300 worth of panel beating and a new tyre. Then I found out the towies towed it with the handbrake on and on the tyre rim and bent the rear axle. Tyre tracks show I was on my side of the road, but because I was young and **** scared I said I may have been speeding to the cops, and got done with careless driving. I was going 55 but what I said when I wasn't with it got me done. Annoying thing was I'd taken the corner at much higher speeds. Young and ****ing extremely stupid, could've killed myself or others. Oh well, at least it got me round to buying my e21
  5. I want! But would they fit an e21?
  6. Woah, that's pretty extreme...

I'm not sure about harvey norman and warranties, they take a while if you have to return them. Dell usually come to you and replace the parts on the spot. And you can put mac on a windows PC.. it's been done before. I've got no idea why you'd want to though. I still hardly see the point of running linux unless you're doing server stuff.

I'd go dell for price, toshiba for build quality. I run a high spec alienware, and have had problems and had to go through the dell customer service (as they now own alienware). They're pretty good. And go XP. Had to fix macs before, they're not nice at all to do (both software and hardware). Windows is far simpler.. Computers are far simpler than cars (and yes, laptops), if you have problems you should no trouble glenn
  9. Speakers in the kick panel have to be done right. If done right, they can be amazing.. and SQ competition results show this. If wrong... The P162S are not 5.25 inches. The P152S are. They're good speakers (I own a pair infact), but there's a big frequency gap between what they play and sub bass that you might hear/care about. You'll get that with any speaker less than 6 inches (or is it less than 6.5?). DD has a lot of fanboys and do make good quality (and bloody loud) gear. They're not for everybody though, so I'd give them a listen before you buy them. Do you have any other speakers in mind? I suggest making spacers and fitting 6.5 inch speakers.
  10. Do you want to keep the factory head unit? I've got no idea how hard it is to change HU's with this model. We can't help much without a given budget or knowing what the current components are. Is the current amp using RCA plugs, a LOC or speaker inputs?
  11. Hmm maybe I'll stay away from the river huh.. Went into a bit of a pot hole a while back and have a loose exhaust. The car is a 320/6 e21 I used to wire to hold it in place at the end, but figured it'd be best to get it sorted properly. Do I need to take it into an exhaust shop or is there an easier way?
  12. Get a manual e21 mate, far less worries with those. Nice cars too! But keep us updated on your e21 hunt.
  13. Go 6.5 inch, otherwise the frequency gap inbetween the sub and the fronts will probably annoy you. It's worth paying extra to get them in. Do you have sound deadening? It'll add another $200 worth of SQ to your speakers Give the Boston S60's, Focal 165V1 or the Polk DB6501 a listen. I'm not sure on NZ RRP's but they should be under 450. And rainbow are great! Just check around for prices as a lot of people think there's not many of them around so they hike up the prices. Good luck!
  14. You won't hear too much difference in oval verus round because 6x9's aren't made to the high end SQ spec most of the time. They're coax, so would be great on a small budget but I'd go 6.5 splits over 6x9's everytime. If you post up a budget we could suggest models for you to look at.
  15. Woah that's good. Now just get some decent front splits and you'll be sorted
  16. Don't waste your time with 6x9's unless you've got a very limited budget. Especially sony 6x9's. E30 installs are difficult but can be done well. Start off with nice front speakers and go from there.
  17. I live a while away, but got a price on a IDQ v3 10 or 12 inch? A price on a 9887 would be nice too

Given up... 4 times now? Not nice on your wallet or your body.
  20. The easiest bet would be to hack up your door cards, make custom mounts (depend how much you want to pay/what you can do yourself) and stick 6.5 inch speakers in there then cover the service holes (and dynamat as you see fit). In the end it's what I did in my e21, it took me years to get the guts to cut up my door cards but in the end the sound was worth it. I went very cheap with the install as i'm planning to fibreglass after I finish my mechanical problems. I simply used $20 carpeted 35mm (I think) speaker spacers from repco and used the biggest screws I could find to go through the metal. The mounts aren't even angled There will be a big difference in SQ after a good set of splits are properly installed in your doors. You won't be missing the 80-300hz range.. and you'll have far nicer speakers than your current ones if you buy smart
  21. Is the factory amp a 10 channel or are there crossovers? If there's only 4 sets of speaker wires running from the amp run the crossovers direct from the head unit. Never worked on a e36 soundsystem before sorry.. You should be able to get it running directly from the head unit and have it sounding great. If you don't want to do it yourself I can ask around to see who you should see in auckland. Too many useless car audio installers out there eh.. BTW - Nice head unit!
