Hmm details for the wheels Cam?
-
Sort of like a mayonaise substance? Anti-freeze and oil. Not good.

But it's an auto...

There's a BIG difference in midbass with 6.5 inch drivers compared to anything smaller. Although the gains you seek might not come because of the enclosure... I'd search around for e30 installs (and there's a lot of them) to get an idea of which path, if any, you want to take. It also depends how good you are with fibreglass That or PM me so I can avoid study a little bit more... Oh, and fade out the rears then. This can be done in a few ways.. I'd suggest via the HU so you don't have to reset the gains at a later stage.

Dammit, not more kings guys down here And there's nothing wrong with a public school if you go to a decent one. At all. Otago is fine if you account for the drunks. You know where they're going to be so don't park your car down castle street if you're worried (although we've had 3 cars parked down castle all year with nothing happen to them). That being said my flatmates car did get broken into in town.. The only car of I know being trashed was when a guy jumped on the roof of his flatmates car for no reason at all. And come on rotty, out back of napier and flaxmere aren't that great. The amount of fights in havelock at night are stupid.. and nobody goes out to town in hastings at night for a reason. I guess on the scale it wouldn't nearly add up to south auckland though.

Jeff Grey BMWn charged me about $40 an hour after I had a chat to the manager about e21's/e30's. This was when I was young and had no idea how to change my valve clearance. Pity they stuffed it up, and said the suspension part I needed would cost $1200. I picked it up at partmaster for $25ish if I remember. If only I wasn't young and stupid, I would've gotten it done properly and wouldn't need a new head now. I actually grew up knowing Jeff Grey, maybe I should talk to him about it!

Are there any good ford forums around? Just talk about how good looking you think your cousin is and I'm sure they'll help you... Just kidding
-
Yeah, active is running the tweeter and woofer on seperate channels. Allows for better tuning, generally. Dunno why it would sill be moving around with velcro. Add some more if it still is. Have you thought about getting a grill to protect the sub? It's a nice looking box!

"Don't believe the hype - there's no such a thing as an 'SQ' amplifier. Just buy a reputable one with the most grunt you can afford and you'll avoid clipping and - hey presto - that equates to 'SQ'." - Damon Dupriez And he knows what he's talking about Ready to spend more on your HU and speakers, then?

The old family diesel couldn't be jump started by 2 AA guys, yet my e21 (with overkill power cables) did it pretty easy

90dB is a lot. Anything around 80dB should be fine, as it's logarithmic so the difference of 10dB is huge.

Welcome! Would be interested to hear about your carPC setup.
-
If you're talking about that 'wheelbarrow' class it's just a bit of fun. It's not taken seriously at all. And alpine had to build their setup in the car, as they're a car audio company man.... but i still don't like it anywhere near as much as their sinister6.

And that's the exact reason you shouldn't have that kicker sub .wav files aren't commonly used, I'd go the lossless track if I were you. Even on my old temporary system I could easily tell the difference. Have a listen to some high end gear (the bostons and the polks I'd say) and see what suits you. Also, the way people tune their systems is to their ears. Not yours. Well, unless they can't tune (which most can't). On your budget I'd go for a nice active 2 way setup with a nice SQ sub all which sound the best to your ears. Then spend countless hours installing it and tuning it to perfection. Do it yourself, and do it right. Get some fibreglass going and after a few months tell us how good it's sounding

What is the most often played song in your BMW?
Five Star replied to emily-mouse's topic in General Discussion
I have a playlist on random.. full of megadeth, iron maiden, pearl jam, king crimson, tool, APC, Pendulum, fatboy slim, pink floyd, the who... the list goes on.. -
Find the rattle and dynamat extreme it. Easy.
-
I've got an e21, and I love the old school look and the overall feel of the car.
-
I've got a lovevly 4 speed, so mine limits at 191. Does it as quick as I like. Until I get it on a track or something.. Mine was down a country road that's only got one house down and we shut it off. We were also staying in that house. Got 260/270odd in an opel calibra.
-
What I do is just copy it as lossless and play it off my ipod. And yes, you'll need 6.5 inch drivers. Unless you're wanting to go 3 way, which is a lot more custom and complicated than what you're currently thinking.

I have to agree about that sub.. I wouldn't include that sub in a $1000 system, let alone a $5000 one.

New Headunit = Flat Battery ???
Five Star replied to Matasorapit's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Try swapping the red and yellow wires. It would also help if you posted what headunit you have. -
You can't? I managed it to fit a mono and 4 channel under one seat in my e21. I say flag the rears and chuck the fronts active. I've heard great things about higher end pioneer speakers being run active. Nice, clean looking install though. How do you have the sub box held down? I used to use velcro with sub boxes that needed to be moved regularly. Edit - Oh now I remember about the e30. It's possible, but your option is far, far better. Last time I did an e30 install the amp ended up on the parcel shelf (not my idea, but it worked..)

Bahahaha brilliant

The jaycar mono is fine for your needs, has easily enough power and is small. The price makes it worth it so you can spend more money where it counts.. Have you heard the new german DD's..? A lot of people are raving about them. Can't say I'm a fan of that sub but if you like it, go for it. I was also wondering about the number of speakers.. was going to say it shows how far NZ car audio has come We're years behind the rest of the world. Also, spend more on your source (HU) and final output (speakers) than your amps. I've asked around and here's an updated list of gear to listen to.. just remember there's a million more than what's on here Speaker amps - Can't really recommend model numbers until you figure out if you're going to be running active or passive Sub amp - Jaycar mono Front splits - Boston Pro60SE/Polk MMC6500/Focal165K2P Sub - Boston G5-10/Image dynamics IDQ 10/Polk SR124 Dynamat extreme - bulk pack Sorry ran out of time to research Head units, although I've heard good things about the alpine 9887, new eclipse and clarion (by the sounds of it, the clarion is the way to go for your needs). Back to study, let us know if you can find anywhere to audition decent gear
