E36 seats are just nice for daily driving, comfy but recaros are much nicer.

Thought I might as well start a thread for my current daily. It's a 1987 M325i, although its been registered as a 325i Sedan.... Has all the good bits, LSD, Manual, Black roofliner, Moonroof , Houndstooth recaros etc... The previous owner posted pics on here ages ago. Looked something like this: Here's a bit of a timeline, definitely need some better pics done. Added the ol RS' Cheers for the Pic Byron. Smashed my sump Replaced it with a bright yellow one ...and put a hole in that one the following week, welded a small plate over the most recent hole...think its time for a sump guard Also tinted at Car Folie and occasionally have the roof racks on. Got some E36 Black leather seats, so far the fronts and the lower half of the rear seat in, needa sort out the rear upper ...got a tech2 steering wheels in there at the moment too. Also did small stuff like suede boots, basic MP3 head deck, dash mat and E34 leather Handbrake handle etc...Havent got a recent pic of the seats but this was test fitting Have missed some other things too but yea.. So far I have fixed up a few bits of rust, had a wierd peice of chassis damage reapired, and resprayed some of the flaking shadowline, new rear boot seal and replaced a cracked handbrake lever arm. Will be respraying the kit and drivers door in the next couple weeks as its a bit chipped and the door clearcoat is delaminating, need to repair a small bit of damage on the recaros drivers bolster and put them back in eventually too. Will be for sale in the next couple months as I've decided that studying full time and working 40+ hours a week sucks, so will need the money for the mortgage me thinks. But yea, is nice to have a simple project, LPC is being completely neglected. To be continued....

You can get fronts done for max $50 if you have the struts out. Rears are piss easy DiY.

How much are PPlates saying a replacement plate will cost Dan? I thought it was only $20ish if you already owned the plate?

Is this topic still being debated? Over a year ago I had to take mine off after a cop threatened me with a fine and demerits, I was pulled over specifically because of the plates on my old E36 and given the stolen gas story....this is nothing new guys. Under the thread title it should read "illegal...duh" The plates are not manufactured and issued by a governing body. So there is no control. It doesn't matter if your "just getting a pretty plate" with the same letters/numbers...How would a cop know without pulling you over ie wasting their time, if your plates match your rego or are completely fake? Maybe we should write the German plates asking they change their font and background so their plates are better replicas instead of wasting time arguing with police and PPlates?

I started trying to do this, also with alcantara, the problem I had was the leather had stretched and it was hard to make a proper fitting pattern..Although the leather is over 20years old I also need some decent scissors! Will be watching with interest as my wheel is still hanging up in the garage naked

As above, have scoured trademe and PMd people and still no luck. Looking for a factory 325i twin pipe full exhaust, a muffler at least! Let me know! Lucan
