  5. Over the last couple of weeks Ive touched up a little of my car, mainly just in the way of shadowlining the trim round the windows and the strips on the doors, and I also painted my wing mirrors to (sort of) match the body colour. Also reblacked the grill, looks much nicer now. Thought I would just post some before and after shots. Shadowlining took about 150 metres of masking tape, a hell of a lot of newspaper and a few cans of spray paint. I couldnt work out if the wing mirrors come apart, so I just screwed them onto the side of an old speaker box I had lying around so i could get at all the surfaces. Sorry about the quality on most of the pics, some were taken with my cellphone.
  6. You can also host it on bimmersports servers, which is what Ive done
  7. Oh really? How much do they charge for that?
  8. I decided to scan mine in just then, along with another strange sheet that i found glued to the back of the back part of the rear seats, I have no clue whatsoever what it is... My buildsheet is quite different to Cains one posted above, Its an old school dot matrix printed one on the paper with the holes along the sides and is all in german with no explanation of the codes...The scan looks a tad CG for some reason, to me anyway...
  9. Yeah mine was just folded up and stapled into a groove on the underside of the back seat.
  10. Hey all, Recently when i had the back seats out I found my build sheet stapled up under there. I was wondering if anyone knew what the different codes mean, I had a bit of a google search and couldnt find anything definitive, mainly just people comparing buildsheets and guessing what the codes meant depending on common options etc between themselves. According to my build sheet my car was finished(Im assuming its the time it was finished) at 6.13am on the 27th of November 1986. Just thought it was (kinda) interesting to know exact times etc haha. The different build codes I have are : 0201, 0215, 0300, 0311, 0350, 0400, 0497, 0812, 0850. Any help will be appreciated, although its not like i desperately need to know, Im just curious... Thanks
  11. Yeah Im also guilty, although I do try and do it in the safest way possible ie. Not while cornering, only when driving slow/stopped etc, and also without looking at the screen the whole time, only to make sure people can understand what it means. I do know its a bad idea tho...

    Transfer

Id think the easiest way would probably be just to network them together, or else burn everything to DVD and transfer it like that. Its not the fastest way, but theyre the least complicated ways(as far I know) Actually Im not too sure how PC<->Mac networks work (assuming that your desktop is a normal PC)
  14. Im not sure where this topic should have gone sorry. One thing that really confuses me is the Motronic/Jetronic thing. From what Ive found to read, only the 88 onwards e30s had Motronics, but in my 86 325i under the dash theres a Motronic ECU. (at least it looks like an ECU to me, and has MOTRONIC written in mental asylum font) Can anyone explain briefly or link me to something? Thanks
  15. Id say those last two posts should have been in their own threads...
  16. theres a gigantic thread of someone from america(i think) installing an eaton m62 onto a 2.7l stroker link
  17. yeah on gannet's advice i had a search around some other forums, ill probably try basically what he said and fine sand it, then polish it, and ill probably also have to repaint the centres theyre quite chipped, especially around where the lug cover is, when the bolts halfway out it likes to swing down and grind all along the edge. Ill definately post some pictures when i get around to giving it a go
  18. id be very interested to hear the outcome of any searching/attempts to convert, thats the major let down for me on my car, other than its unkitted body, auto trans etc....
  19. yeah, i think i was probably gonna be there anyway, theyre doing heaps of them, the listing of all the movies is here: http://www.northshorecity.govt.nz/movies/movie1.html and the details on where hootons is is here: http://www.northshorecity.govt.nz/movies/map_hootons.html went to the valentines day one, eagle vs shark (gf likes it) wasnt a drive thru, but it was definately an experience, 16x8m screen or something, and you can hire the entire rig for 4000 for one night, and then 1500 each night after that
  20. does anyone have any ideas for cleaning wheels up? my wheels have crusty yellowish stuff that looks like dried glue all over them, I cant seem to get it off with the usual brush + cleaner idea. Also, will the dark grey bit split from the rest of the wheel to make it easier to repaint, or are the bolts just for show? Id like to get the bare steel parts nice and shiny if its at all possible thanks
  21. man thats great, ive got to think of something to ask him haha
  22. I have quite a collection of these myself, ill have to refrain from posting the more explicit ones...
  23. lol dammit well i guess luckily there hasnt been any fuel leaking that ive noticed. do you reckon it could cause erratic fuel gauge behaviour, i cant describe it but it seems kinda weird sometimes
  24. changing the back brake pads this morning, noticed a few things under there. what i think is the fuel tank has a huge dent in the bottom, looks like someone decided to jack the car up using the fuel tank... also theres a bit where the exhaust narrows out and gets really thin, anyone elses do this? the cat is also really long compared to other cars ive seen, whats up with that?
