ken , they will just bolt straight on , you may need to use narrower tyres or roll your guards for clearance , do some googling , plenty of people have done it before

just vacuum it all out , don't worry about it , its only there for noise suspression , all foam breaks down like that with age and heat just like the backing on the head linnings , door cards , battery cover etc

did you fit the torque convertor into the gearbox the correct way , did the gearbox bolt up to the engine tightly or normal? many people smash the oil pump drive by not fitting correctly ,
