they go pretty well . i take mine to every track day i can get to .most manuals are nz new or uk import .

tapping could also be , most likly at that millage is the cam shaft lobs are worn down . easy to check just take the rocker cover off and look at the lobs , normally number one cylinder goes first . i have 2 good engines . a 86 320i 160000km and 89 320i 152000km , which is motronic

yes that was a orsome motor 3T GTE i think twin spark , hemi pistons big valves , head was made by Yamaha .used to push it all the way to 220km/h down the motor way , temp gauge used to climb up to meet speedo dial. cranked boost to about 11pbs went real well ( just remeber this was back in the early 90's ) i used gas tap to shut the waste gate down , and by passed the over boost sensor . and used a varible resistor switched in place of the engine temp sensor to trick the ecu to thinking it was colder than it was , so to supply more fuel .when tunned just right on dyno . with only 6.5pbs boost it encreased output by 10HP . never check HP output at 11pbs .

you could buy one of my projects . maybe the grey 88 535i manual . will be selling that soon . can sell as incomplete project ( if you want ) or finished to your spec of engine . ( have some ideas for doing the engine if you want) 535i 5spd is quite good standard , but real quick when done with a few engine mods . will be fitting a std low millage motor back into it . but if want could pull it down and do a bit of head work , and higher compression pistons etc . call me some time if you want . 021433600 . also have 1990 e30 325iA face lift with m-tecII kit black leather and with the cool blue metalic paint that changes a little in the sun light .(factory). 15" 2 piece BBS alloys 90000miles

yea , and its a pain to take boot lid off cause the wiring is permently attach to car wiring harness .
