Dunno, it goes somewhere, a place where it goes, if i could be bothered I'd go have a look at mine right now, Im pretty sure the holes go right through, the pegs will go to behind the padding on the inside of the hood

The pegs that are stuck in the bonnet just get a hammer and a small blunt nail and just hit the peg right through to the other side, one of them broke on mine and thats how I solved it...

Id say its a 1997. Front grill is pre Fl, and bumper is also pre fl with a sweet looking lip. I really need to get my sh*t together and get my facelift lights etc. More likely its a 523i since they didnt do pre fl 525i I dont think, still has the same M52B25 engine though just different badges.. Looks sweet though man, I like it. Nice as colour.

All depends on the conditions I guess. Depends also one the E39 and how well optioned it is Extra airbags were optional etc. I think the Standard E39 came out with 4 airbags and well optioned facelift E39's had 10 Airbags as far as I know. I have only read good things about the safety in them. One of the main selling points for them when they came out too. Havent been in a crash in one and I hope to never crash one..

I just got this done in my car at the dealership, the part itself was around $360. I think you can get aftermarket ones on Trademe for about $200

Some might disagree with me but I think if your going to bother with aftermarket I'd go with 18" as minimum and 19" being idea and maybe 20" if they are the right kind of wheels. But thats just me and depends on the look you are going for.

17" is also too small and will look funny

Nothing wrong with SMG II boxes. I have driven both manual E46 M3 and SMG M3 extensively, both a good but I wouldnt knock the car becasue it was SMG, sure the gear changes can be a little jerky when cold but all and all pretty good. SMG III is something else all together!

Remember when you bought this YEARRRRRS ago and we went cruising in town? Was that the night that guy got hit with the hammer in the car in front of us? Good luck with the sale though, you best get another one sometime...
