  1. T-Box Works well, provided you don't mind laggy menus. Unable to be remotely managed unlike mySky. Content is the same as skiy (give or take)

Cable FTW. Might not be so relevant in this day and age, but still. I get a consistent 15mbps and good gaming ping times. As ultrafast broadband gets rolled out nationwide, expect competitively higher cable speeds as the network is all docsis3 compliant now.

  2. Apex: Yet to do anything about it. Though the intention is to do a manual swap.

Had a quote for $1200 for an autobox. Then theres fluid (autobox holds a heap, and it aint cheap). Honestly, you could be looking at 2k before its even in the car.

  3. Good stuff. I have only recently realised dealers do this. I went into Papakura Toyota looking for a new key to replace my 25 year old worn one and all they needed was my registration.. next day I had a new key.

I do question if anyone could just rock in and order one though?

I wondered that too when the Key for my Subaru fell apart (I kid you not. I found the half that broke off half way between my car and the dairy - It broke when i was walking. wtf?)

Rang the after hours locksmith, gave him the key number (but he also said the rego would work as it is kiwi new) and an hour later he rocked up with a new key.

Cost me a cool hundy, but better than than leave a tastefully modified suby in the shadows on SH1 a few kms north of porirua.

  4. Me too further left than expected. Surely must be slanted or.... you guys to the right must be very right

Interesting innit. I would describe myself as in the centre. Faith in the free market could have slanted the results.

  5. I know most import boys use the Subaru upper engine cleaner on their cars and that some have had probs with Seafoam before...i have only used the Subaru stuff but can definitely vouch for it being really good!

+1. Use this on my subie every 20k. Swear by it.

  6. Regarding top speed of Hyosung, i dont know why you couldnt get more than 130kph, cause i can get 175kph out of mine and some times 180kph - pretty quick for a 250 twin really. And you cant compare a upright naked v-twin to a inline 4 sports bike, gotta compare apples with apples here. People need to get over the brand thing and there egos.

Pass. Thats just the way it was. Wasn't quick by any stretch. Was an early carbed one though. Had the CDI mod and a cycleworks can - would have benefitted from a re-jet and some intake work.

Good point on the sports i4 vs naked twin - but its simply my experience.

Anyway, to the OP - Have a ball when it arrives. There's some great roads out the wairarapa for a sunny winters sunday ride.

  7. I've had a Hyosung GT250 (upright naked) and an FZR250R.

FZR Owned the hyo in every respect. Better handling (i prefer the crouched riding position of a true sports bike - so this played a big part) more power, and that silly 18k rev limit i loved so much.

TBH, the 250 twin just didnt have the required balls for commuting. 130 was about its limit, and whilst thats above and beyond the limit it just didnt sit comfortably at anything above 90ish.

The FZR on the other hand topped out at near 200 and commuting at or near the speed limit was a breeze.

Biggest thing though? I had massive love for the Yami and zero love for the Hyo.

  8. I swear the vast majority drive as if they have just had a massive joint, laid back paranoid, indecisive and slow to react, and when something happens they are like wooooohhhhhhh maaaaaannnnnnnn.

    This.

The masses have been dumbed down to a point now where when they are behind the wheel they lose the ability to think for themselves. Not only do they seem unable to anticipate others movements on the road, they also seem unable to process events real time.

Many, Many drivers in NZ either do not possess/are incapable of using the required cognitive abilities to drive a car safely and effectively.

  9. I Just use the PS3 and a 2 TB NAS hooked up to the network. All my media is stored on the NAS which streams to the PS3. Only downside is if i want to play either .mkv or H.264 files I have to plug the laptop in to teh TV as the NAS/PS3 combo wont play them. Otherwise it works a treat and is good for 80% of media taht I have.

    Asus

    Toshiba

    HP

Do HP's still have that overheating issue? I have a DV6850 which is going to need replacing soon, best laptop i've ever owned apart from its tendency to want to burn a hole through whatever its sitting on.

  10. Am going to be doing a Manual conversion on my 540 this year and its looking increasingly like I am not going to be able to source all the bits i need in one shot.

Things I need: S6S 420G 6 speed manual from E34 540 or E39 540/M5 - Unlikely to find this in NZ, but if anyone knows of one hiding, let me know!

    Trans Crossmember

    Shift linkage etc

Manual Pedal Box from E34, clutch slave/master and lines - Can be from a 6cyl no dramas.

    Cheers

    Sam
