  1. Too true Simon*. I did an engineering degree straight out of school, but have not used much of what I studied. I guess the moral is that a degree by itself won't open any doors for you. But it might stop a few being closed in your face. Still, uni can be one hell of a good time! Just be smart and don't end up paying for that 3-4 years of fun for the next 25. No reason to rush into work though - it will always be there.
  2. The guy in the GT3 must be going "WHAT THE F**K just happened?" Eats that Aston Martin, and WRX for breakfast too!
  3. Sorry, my bad. Try .520hp in a Kombi... Looks like it goes around corners too!
  4. Dunno - I felt like it this morning....
  5. You park in Liverpool for 10 minutes, and look what happens.... Feeling pretty old now thanks guys - I can get by in 2 1/2 different languages and still can't understand a word of some of those other posts.
  6. Choose wisely grasshopper or you could end up as bitter and twisted as the rest of us! Seriously though, if you want some assistance pointing in the right direction try http://www.bartholomewconsulting.co.nz/wha...y-profile.shtml . Would be worth the time and money to get going in the right direction if you aren't sure. End rant.
  7. Don't know if this has been posted before, but how's this for one of those wtf? moments... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SW8CmgcfmE...feature=related This might explain more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SW8CmgcfmE...feature=related
  8. Physically it should fit that no problems - it is the old generation stereo / harness and should fit anything up to 2001 I think. Jochen or Hotwire may be able to tell you exactly when the cutover was (but I am 99.9% sure it was after mine). The only issue may be how mangled the wiring harness is from the aftermarket stereo. If they were smart, they used a jumper cable and didn't touch the main harness. If not, then you might have a job to do rewiring it.... Have you got a CD changer in the 320i? If not, I think there is one on Trademe at the moment, or someone else on Bimmersport may have a spare unit. I am quite happy for you to come over and trial it if you want. PM me if you want to have a look at / play with it.
  9. I have a spare NZ spec factory E46 cassette / radio that drives the factory 6 disc changer and works with the multifunction wheel if you are interested. It is from a year 2000 build 330ci.
  10. Worked with Robert on a couple of spoiler CHMSL projects (in a former life)....
  11. Guess I should come clean too... I'm a engineering project manager normally involved in product development (spent 7 years in the european auto industry). Currently project managing an ERP (IT) system selection and implementation. Declined the Datsun Insult offered by the company, and got myself the 330ci.
  12. Hmmm - RS Cosworth must be one animal of a car to drive. Mind you, the Roadrunner deserves some serious respect too.
  13. Bastard!! Not many are priveliged enough to drive a Vanquish - how did you wrangle that?? You have to sign in blood? I see there was a used one floating around at Independent Prestige for around $300k.... I guess that 100m actually cost about $1500 in depreciation and maintenance!! I was thinking that the C6 Corvette and the Dodge Viper would also have to be in the mix somewhere - but I wouldn't be sacrificing the Cigarette for them! Maybe a runaround for the mrs?? It is the dream garage afterall....
  14. In no particular order.... Aston Martin Vanquish 68 Camaro RS SS - 396ci + 4sp manual E46 M3 (close to that one) Porsche GT3 2009 Cigarette 42X - might struggle to tow this one with the 330 Doesn't matter what anyone says - there is no replacement for displacement!
  15. I've been thinking about this and wonder if it is more active driver abuse than anything else. As in stomping on the gas before dropping it in gear for wheelies - not a couple of extra RPM's accidentally while dropping it into gear. I just can't imagine that BMW allow a fragile transmission to be used on a million or so vehicles... They have so much to lose reputation wise (as well as those cars repaired under warranty and the risk of a recall in the US). My 2c worth anyway.
  16. Not yet - finishes May 27th. Yeah - getting expensive for the number of issues.

    Exploding Whale

Im just trying to picture the insurance assessor looking at the car with the roof stoved in. "Yes sir, it was just parked there and it started raining chunks of whale." So it appears that there is at least one problem that can't be solved with dynamite!
  18. No not for me - I already have the same thing with less dents in it..... Yeah I agree Wild_Weston - the grey looks pretty blah. Hadn't heard about the trans issue - will have to be careful not to do that to mine!
  19. Dodgy button in the key or alarm fault??? If you hold the unlock button down long enough it will open all the windows remotely. Maybe Hotwire would know more.

    Exploding Whale

I laughed so hard I nearly spat dinner all over the mrs laptop. Absolute classic!
  21. Good question - I am also interested to hear feedback. I have read that some E46 radios have a text display issue with the Intravee - not sure if this is the same with the DICE or ICElink or if it impacts the E39 as well.
  22. I worked with a guy called Richard Puller many years back. Thought it was a joke when I first heard - poor bugger. Nice guy, but a slightly unfortunate name. Guess slang changes over time and almost anybody could be caught out - like getting Munsoned (from the movie Kingpin).
  23. Or the lawyers! Mine actually has a thump when you take it out of park if it has crept a little on the handbrake. Don't think it would be related to your issues though.
