  1. Good info to have wild_weston. How did you find them out of interest?? And what is their range like?
  2. He (or she I guess) does say that the business has failed - so I could believe being tight for cash. But it is suspicious that the cash has been tight since January 2007 (no rego since then) and the car is only going now. Totally agree though - it isn't a $500 Vauxhall Chevette (are they still worth $500??) so why not warrant it at least - unless there is a reason not to. Does a VIR tell you why a WoF was failed (if at all)? Also says the trans has been replaced by JC BMW. That also makes me suspicious - I thought they were pretty strong in that regard. I don't feel so gutted about the price now
  3. Just looking at some of their stuff like CSL bootlid replicas. $714 for fibreglass and $875 for carbon fibre. Be rude not going for carbon at that price difference.
  4. Too good to be true you reckon Yuen? Hope so for my bank balance and sanity's sake if nothing else anyway.... Got it on my watchlist to see what it goes for in the end. If it goes for under $20k I think it will be pretty good buying for someone (assuming it only needs the panel work on the door). Hate to have to do anything serious on one $$$$$$$$$!!
  5. Welcome to the forum - hope you are enjoying the M3. Photos are a must!!
  6. Found this while perusing trademe - cheap enough to make me cry.... Why does this never happen when I am looking for something?? Be a good buy for someone wanting an E46 coupe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-155278520.htm

    Personalised Plates

Yeah I agree - a plate has to be clever. The brutally obvious statement is pretty lame (as is the use of 5 in place of S etc) but you also don't want to have to think too hard either. I did see UZAHO around a while back - crap. I personally wouldn't get one - it doesn't add any value to me (I prefer to stay under the radar ). Each to their own I guess.
  8. Yeah - we are a bunch of muppets!!! Actually, it is about time they bought the Muppets and Sesame St back - good idea! Gotta love the Dr Teeth band, and Gonzo on the motorbike... Can't really explain why I chose Grover - it was either him or Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, and I'm neither a muscled up freak nor or an oil coated wrestler in skin tight lycra....
  9. No problemo - nothing like that feeling of beating the system, eh? Sometimes you just have to think like a german automotive engineer! Glad to hear you have it sorted now. I reckon my new one sounds better too! Just a pity you aren't in Auckland - could have helped out (easier to demonstrate than to explain sometimes). Still, you should be able to explain it to someone else if needed now!
  10. Welcome - nice car! Let me know if you are looking to sell the motorsport wheels - I am looking for a set for my 330ci...
  11. Hate to say it, but I reckon you have been stitched too mate. Dunno how much of a leg the mechanic has to stand on if they did the work without your approval to start. Was he MTA approved? I think they have rules that they are supposed to follow for things like that. It does sound electrical gremlins - good luck sorting it.
  12. All I did was lift the plastic connector until the slots were lined up with the pins and gave it a pull. Admittedly, I did need to use a bit of force to lift the connector to the end, but it wasn't riduculous. By the way - love the avatar!
  13. I heard a story about the bad old days of NZ Post when every single item (package or letter made no difference) dropped down a chute 5 floors high. And that was regardless of the fragile stickers... Don't know how true it is. Course I have also seen packages carried by DHL that looked like they had been dropped from 30,000 ft.... I did ask if they had a shortage of parachutes that day.
  14. Someone is smoking their socks - $99 grand!!
  15. Or you could try: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-153981494.htm
  16. Random question for those in the know: how is TV programming delivered? Is it all digital and fed from servers, or do they still use tapes?
  17. Hmmm - they were on the bike when I got it. I know DOT approved lighting is (or was) permitted in NZ and assumed other DOT approvals (tyres, brakes etc) were as well... Still, it did brake like nothing else I have come across short of a Porsche GT3 race car.
  18. Can't you use DOT approved lines? I had these on my ZX7R and there was never any queries at warrant time. Admittedly, they did have DOT Approved marked on them, but there wasn't a yellow sleeve for NZ certification. Was I just lucky?
  19. Under pressure, the rubber brake hoses can expand. Using steel braiding on the hoses stops (or minimises anyway) the hoses expanding under pressure. The end result is all of the pressure is put into the brakes (not wasted on expanding the hoses) and there is better feel in the pedal. Oh, and they look sh*t hot....
  20. That's a bummer wild_weston - mine arrived in good condition. Was the packaging damaged?? If it's not useable, try talking to germanaudiotech about the insurance.
  21. Nice wagon Cain. I love the modern euro-diesels - so much grunt. No need to wring its neck, just ride the torque....

Sweeeeet!! Wonder who got the demolished guitar? Be an awesome souvenir to hang on the wall of the garage!!
  23. Be really funny to see it go pop! Course if you believe the website, it would run like a dream. Might even add value to the corolla!! haha

Yeah - I can't call myself a pumpkins fan any more.... I felt like I had been aurally violated that night! Chris Cornell was fantastic - he really put a good show on even though he wasn't the main gig. Played stuff from Audioslave, Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden and his own stuff from memory. Totally agree about the seats - too old for the GA mosh pit myself. Is it not great actually being able to grab a couple of beers for the show. Finally we are in the new century!
  25. Yeah I agree Hybrid - nuclear needs to be considered at the very least. We are really lucky to have so much hydro, but the guts is that it isn't 100% reliable (as we are finding out now). Kind of difficult to build a new one when you need it too
