25% and where the hell do I get a car fast enough to win the GT championship in the professional events??? I've got the merc gtr, but I'm getting kicked
  4. you can get into a e36, lost my keys once in Palmy locksmith had the right tool as he had the BMW account still took him 3 and a half hours though, just to get into it then another 4 to get the barrell out and get a key cut that was a fun day
  5. going to work this morning about 6:40 some guy must have been caning it around the basin, tried to get on to buckle st run wide and went through the fence on the block before the mobil. there was a copper there sorting him out laughed my ass off all the way to work, clowns are always losing it around there
  6. I get a bit of that, but i used to have an 85 XJS I got non stop grief in that car its a coupe that is longer than a commodore station wagon so I always just had to muscle my way into the next lane cos no bastard would ever give way I just work on the theory that I can afford to hit you, more than you can afford to run into me (not true but it works)
  7. Marketing for South Pacific Tyres god knows how I got here, started off up in Akl in W/sale sales 4 years ago but I get to do all the Motorsport as well, so pretty much a dream job if your dreams involve sweating like a pig fitting 300 tyres a weekend was in the Navy before that for 7 years
  8. sorry Carl, but I'm older than you, and definitely qualify as a games geek favourite sim at the moment is F1 2003, havent upgraded yet but got gt4 on thurs and didnt surface til last night, heaps of fun

    Tyre Choice

Fortunately for me, the better a tyre is the less it lasts hence Slicks lasting about 250Km, Tarmac Rally tyres (road legal) 5-10 relatively normal driving maybe 1000km hard out
  10. i've still got the Death Star and some tie fighters and a star destroyer geeky I know but dont have the heart to get rid of them

    Konig Rims

BG Marketing are bring them in bgworldwheels.co.nz any Beaurepaires can get them for you
  12. the other side to this that I heard was that they send you a cheque for the overpayment amount say $5 but dont cash it, and the transaction remains open handy if you have lots of demerits as the points dont go on until the txion is complete, maybe they have fixed this loophole. the points still get dated from when you received the initial ticket so in theory you should be able to cash the cheque after 2 years and be cool for school. personally I have just spent two years driving like mum to lose my points and am not in a hurry to test this theory

I rated the FM901, but got the direzza's on at the moment and no complaints from me, quite quiet as well, trying the new Dunlop Sportmaxx next from all accounts they are very good as well try the forgotten highway between stratford and taumaranui 150k of windy windy ps the 15km corner actually means 15km first time I've ever got my abs to go in the dry great tyre test road, about 10k of gravel in the middle just to keep things even more interesting
  16. translation, come to sunny Germany and get owned

    Tyre Choice

just to confuse the issue even more our new rally tyres are asymetrical and directional they come in Lefts and Rights, and have inside/outside markings

    Tyre Choice

asymetrical tyres have an inside and an outside edge so you can put them anywhere on the car but you shouldnt flip them on rims directionals have a rotation so you can flip them. Buy the Direzza's (shameless company plug)
  19. finally caught it for the first time last night. all a bit of a yawn, told me nothing I really wanted to know personally I'd like to see something different The presenters need a bullet, especially when the old fella made references to Bauhaus concerning that little suzuki, I dont know who told him to say that but its not a bauhaus style car, and its not a school of thought its a german design school, started in about the 20's from memory by Walter Gropius. pretentious wanker, If he wanted to sound knowledgeable he could tell me how many kilowatts and how much torque and better yet if there is an aftermarket bolt on turbo kit cos it really needed one
  20. Checked the Haynes book, said you have to take the windows out leave to a professional So I went ahead and did it anyway, pretty difficult but you can do it take off all the pillar trims, sunvisors (and wires) lights door seals, sunroof seal if applicable there is a fibre and foam panel in the ceiling, you can get this out through the door takes a bit of manoevering but it will fit, on a coupe anyway. now you have the panel on a bench you can rip off all the old material clean it all up ready for reupholstering. I got some grey vinyl from spotlight which was a fairly close match was thinking about material but chances were the glue would soak through and look pants, and vinyl is easier to clean. $15.95 a metre, I erred on the side of caution and bought 2.5 metres ended up with just under a metre left over but better safe than sorry. Get some Ados aerosol contact adhesive $18.99 at placemakers one can was plenty. In hindsight I should have started at the rear where there is not so many tricky bits to get the hang of it, but I didnt so there you go also in hindsight a pair of surgical gloves would be good, by the state of my hands it doesnt come off very easily. spray the glue on about a foots worth of the panel and the backing of the vinyl then apply making sure you have it taut otherwise you'll get big wrinkles but you have a good 2 mins to sort it out before it really sticks (you really need this) then keep on going once you have it all glued on, and pretty much dry go round all the edges and trim them up I used a stanley knife but some good scissors would not go amiss. there will also be quite a few places that need a bit more glue. now the hard bit, getting it back in the car. there is a lip on the rear edge of the panel that needs to hook on to a ledge. get a friend to help. or you can do what i did. Sit on the back seat and hook the rear lip onto the ledge while holding up the front with your feet, do it quickly as you get very tired doing this. then keeping the tension going forward to hold the rear lip on get the middle pillar covers on as they support the panel these are the covers with that the seat belts bolt onto, and then the front pillars. next put the door seals back on, they overlap the panel which will give you more support so you can start screwing the grab handles back on after that its all pretty straight forward, make sure you cut all the holes you need in the garage I missed a couple and its a bugger to do whilst holding the panel up with your head. this was my first attempt at reupholstering anything, not the greatest job but it was better than it was, so I'll call it a moral victory i'll try and sort out some pics, digital camera died on me
  21. F1 rocks I was getting a bit disillusioned but then I found www.f1tipping.com like virtual super 12 but with cars coming to work monday morning having ruined everyone else in the points stakes is great by me quite fun,
  22. couple of things my roof lining is coming down and looks fugly can you get an aerosole adhesive to spray on then smooth it back on or is there a better way same thing with my interior mouldings in the rear, all the skin is ballooning up off the backing and also looks fugly I'm sure its a common occurence, so surely someone has devised a fix
  23. what are they thinking!!!! personally when I'm on a big long straight on a hot day and its all hazy in the distance, I love it when cars have their lights on, you're not likely to get dazzled in the day, and you know where they are so you don't perform any dodgy overtaking manoevueres (however you spell it) I'd pass a law to make them mandatory in the daytime before I banned them a little pet peeve of mine if you hadn't guessed
  24. I just dont get it, having your lights on makes you more visible so it is therefore safer, what is the problem????? our Ford Courier utes at work dont give you a choice, turn on the key and the lights come on
  25. or possibly a bent valve managed to do that on my dads Jag many years ago and it cost me lots and lots
