That 8-series looks a million times better than when it had those horrible stock wheels! Sure it sounds a lot calmer than with those huge cannons too.

It's awful in Devonport. I've driven up Lake Road where all the cyclists ride together in the mornings, and they think because it's 7AM they can ride in a cluster blocking pretty much the entire side of the road. I feel pretty uncomfortable driving besides cyclicts, but at least we have actual cycling lanes from Devonport almost all the way to Takapuna. I BMX to work most days, and the annoying this is if you bike on the road in the cyclist lanes, you get honked at and yelled at.. if you ride on the footpath old ladies yell at you. You can't win. The real geniuses are the ones who just honk their horn when they go past you for absolutely no reason. I HAS A HORN DURRR. Drivers need to learn a little bit of patience, I bet the same people that get pissed off at the cyclists who are actually riding responsibly are the same drivers who speed and overtake people in residential areas, the ones who end up getting to the lights at the exact same time as you when you travel the speed limit...

Last chance.. $100 or swap for GT5

hey, Does anybody know where I can buy new bonnet gas struts for my 1996 E36 323i Coupe? They don't hold the bonnet up at all anymore which makes it kind of annoying if you're trying to do anything.

Thanks for all the kind comments, yeah I'm pretty happy with it. I've talked to Carfolie regarding tints, just need to get some money first! Richiz: The exhaust is a Remus, not sure on the other specifics but it's only slightly noisier than stock which is great.

Hey, Have been on this forum for a few years but never introduced myself. Just bought myself a BMW after owning a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo for a few years. The power difference is pretty noticable but the ride quality in the BMW is what I was after This is my second BMW after my first one, which was an E39 520i 323i Motorsport Manual

Hey, Bought these before I bought my E36 thinking they would be a good upgrade http://www.paulmoney.co.nz/shop/car-speake...nity-kappa427i4 Lucky for me, the car's rear speakers already have 5 1/4" adaptor pods installed, so I can run bigger speakers. Not much point keeping these. They are brand new unopened in the box, and include 2x crossovers, a really nice set of speakers. Looking to recoup some of my losses so I'm asking for $120. Can deliver to pretty much anywhere on the North Shore.

That the only kind of bad driving is speeding. I wish they had idiot cameras.

I think it looks badass. You know by the end of production it will be heavily toned down, but sh*t... looks like a much much nicer new mustang.

That's a point. Is there a widely used diagnostic system for BMW obd2 that can plug into a laptop and record values? If I noted down the time while driving, I could check the graphs for any change and hopefully see what has happened. But yeah, intermittent issues are the worst. Just have to wait til it gets worse I suppose.

Hey there, I've bought an E36 1996 323i a few days ago, and everything is going perfectly except for a slight hesitation issue. It's pretty intermittent, but usually happens when I'm driving on the motorway in 5th gear at 100km/h. It feels like a brief lack of power, almost like when you hit speed cut in a japanese car, which comes back if I accelerate more. It can also happen when I'm driving around at 40km/h and the car will bunny hop a little, but in an engine losing power kind of way... I've had BMWorkshop have a look at it, and the fault scan picked up nothing relating to it. I've asked them to replace the spark plugs as a precaution, since they haven't been done in 30,000km's, and I need to monitor the car to see how it goes. They have suggested the coil packs will be the next point of investigation, but this can get pretty pricey. Just wanting to see if anybody here has any ideas I could try if the spark plugs don't sort this out. They have ruled out the fuel filter & fuel pump from the possibilities.

How much more clearance do you have between the guard and the tyres do you have on the front? If its a lot higher it could be that whoever put the springs on before put them on upside down. Have bought two cars like this...

Hey, Actually looking to find a smaller engined E36 for my mother, who has recently had her car written off by somebody crashing in to the back of her at 30km/h... the car she was in was a Pulsar, and the amount of a beating it took compared to the other car was a lot, so much that I've convinced her she needs to get something a bit more robust, but she's only wanting to spend $3,000 - $3,500 so I thought maybe an E36 would be a good option. Pretty much needs to be the exact opposite of what I look for in an E36 in terms of options, but obviously in good mechanical order. Needs to be: Automatic 1.8L or 2L Reasonable km's Well serviced No rust / damage Current reg & wof If anybody has anything that sounds like the above, please let me know as I'd rather buy off a club member than off trademe Thanks! David

Haha yeah.. I'm sure the amount of money they pay to the government is minimum, and I'm sure a thin sheet of aluminium with low quality decals isn't exactly heavily subsidized by the government. Still though, at least they weren't completely avoident of my question. I wonder why it costs twice as much to have government issue plates converted to euro's than if you have personalised plates converted to euro...
-
Hi David Thankyou for your inquiry regarding the upgrade of a Personalised Plate to a Euro plate. The cost to upgrade your plate to a Silver fern euro plate [black or blue options] is $299.00 incl gst, manufacturing and delivery. David with any sale of a Personalised Plate including upgrade sales we are required to pay a portion of the sale to NZTA which goes into the 'Road safety trust'. Also the plates are quite a lot more expensive than the $32.00 you are charged for a remake, this is due to the fact that the Government subsidises the remake cost. I trust that the above information goes some way to answering your concerns. -- Pretty happy with that answer, it makes the cost a lot less bitter.

Yep, a $370 markup... thats 1235% markup. Pretty sure that should be illegal eh. Completely unjustifiable. Emailed to ask them how they justify this price, expect to get a generic reply shortly...

BSW 4" to 6x9" Rear Speaker Adapters
cytamen replied to cytamen's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Yeah, USPS was only $50, but there was a pretty serious disclaimer from the website against using them.. apparently the packages get lost frequently. I ended up buying some little kappa 4" speakers so I'll see how they go, surely they will be better than the Nokias -
BSW 4" to 6x9" Rear Speaker Adapters
cytamen replied to cytamen's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Found out that shipping with UPS is $150USD... Probably not worth spending all up about $250NZD, waiting weeks for it. Planning on getting some Infinity Kappa Speakers, 42.7i. Is it worth amplifying such small speakers? -
Hey, Just wondering, has anybody in the forum used these adaptors before? http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/product/...eaker-Adapters/ They claim to be able to easily convert the rear 4" speakers to 6x9's without any hassle. Not even sure I'd be able to get them into New Zealand, but if I cant get rear 6x9's, I was planning on getting Infinity Kappa 4" speakers and a subwoofer. Maybe somebody knows of a local supplier of something similar?

All this 4km/h speed tolerance rubbish has done is make everybody drive at 80km/h on the motorway, wagging their heads left to right trying to look for police. It's hardly made the roads any safer. Obviously speed has an effect on crashes, as does reaction time, driver experience, driver state of consciousness, road condition, car condition etc etc. I just hate how police / government seem to think speeding is the only reason people crash, and that fining people for minor speeding offences is the silver bullet on road deaths. Oh wow what a shock! We impose a 4km/h tolerance for speeding on the roads! People still died even though there is a possibility of a $60 fine! What a joke.

Best car audio shop with best prices
cytamen replied to swordfish's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
According to pricespy, parallel imported price is $592.00... you could try calling Jonvy Audio in Northcote, they have good deals. Got my CDA9887 for $550 there recently, and they only charge $40 for an install, if you cant be bothered doing it yourself. -
Yeah, cooling system was what I was mainly looking at. I'll try not to go too crazy, but see what the workshop has to say about the car when I get it. I'll be driving to Wellington on the first day, and then over the picton ferry, down to Christchurch where I'll spend a day or so. I'll also be checking out Queenstown, Milford sound and bluff. On the way back I'll be taking the west coast roads, but I'll be taking a lot of pictures for sure. Will be good to finally a bigger picture of the country I've lived in for my whole life, not just the cities! If anybody has any spots they recommend I go see, let me know. Still months left to plan.
