  1. So according to the respndents my selling price is sub $20K dressed up - so what do you reckon with all of the kit removed

  4. This crowd in Newmarket - http://www.auto-interior.co.nz/ Their work was not as good as I had hoped but they did replace and rework the area (front door cards) I was unhappy with.
  5. If I do the sums the car cost $24K 3 years ago, interior $2.2K, rims $2K (ex bimmersport member - great buy), tyres $1.6K, bilstiens $1K, springs $300. Thats $31,100 - ouch, shouldn't do that. I'd like to think low 20's but ultimately the market will decide I guess
  6. I need some help establishing the value and best way to sell my 330i. 7. Thanks guys - will check the earth as I had no problems when I first installed the unit so something has changed
  8. I assume you did the conversion Ray - I have been told that the recode makes this difficult - any comments? Would like to discuss having the same done to my 330
  9. I have a Dennison IPod interface unit fitted to my E46 330i - when using an IPod there is a high pitched whine which changes with engine rpm. I guess it is alternator or ignition interference - anyone sorted this in an E46 before?
  10. Daughter thinks E36 looks too much like dads car so painted rims - now she wants the front end lowered (so does dad)
  11. I went through a lot of drama after my central locking failed due to a defective mirror (the frequency reciever only - the auto dim function was fine). NZ OEM cost was around $1,400 I recall. Searched NZ yards for a few months but needed one ex a Jap import and none were available, note NZ new and euro use the rear window radio antenna.Eventually brought one from the US (off EBay) - needed one ex a convertible as the US sedan also use the radio antenna. Paid NZ$600 by the time I frieghted it (premium service). Worked fine once installed but the smaller oval shape took a bit of getting used to.
  12. The BMW dealer I use periodically was adamant that the transmisson should be left alone saying the fluid was in there for life - I have to say that the quote ($600) for the fluid alone made my mind up.
  13. Turps - soak a rag - wipe over quickly - leave it for a minute or 2 - rewipe - wash off with soapy water and dry
  14. I had this on my 94 325 - a common fault is to do with a wiring joint fault in the ABS unit itself. Cost me ~$200 at a dealer (soldered joint)
  15. you E46 drivers are all the same

    POLISHED

Very nice - would like to hear it as well
  17. Cheers guys - took the car around Taupo today and just like the guy in Michaels link I got at least another 10 kph through the corners (yeah right)
  18. Any thing is possible but I'm slow, lazy and fussy which means a commercially available item will be much more cost effective
  19. Last job on the list was a strut brace - what am I going to do now? Brace was made by splitting a piece of 30mm stainless tube and then removing 12mm off the diameter. Clamped the 2 pieces in a curved jig and tig welded together. The result is an oval shape, pretty ridgid. Buffed and polished. The end plates are 3mm plate cut, filed, brazed together and painted. Good way to spend a cold wet weekend.
  20. I had a very similar problem with my E46 - with Johen's help we tracked it down to a fault with the aerial connector that plugs into the back of the head unit. My reception went from lousy to probably the best I have had in any car.
  21. The rotors on the front of my E46 330i are 325 diameter - will the calipers suit do you know?
  22. Trevor at Auto Interiorsv http://www.auto-interior.co.nz/ did mine recently, $2,250 all up. PM me if you do deal with him - there are a few things you should ask for.
  23. re my silver wrap query - ?
