My advice would be no - refer my experience http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=31125

Since everyone is talking up the Aussie system how about we introduce the Victorian hook turn rule - can't get my head around that one
-
Looks like someone broke into my daughters 325 E36 - the petrol cap is gone and the locking system doesn't work anymore. Does anyone have an actuator (if that is what I need) and a petrol cap for sale?
-
Cheers Neal - I too have noticed the slight pinking - wasn't until I drove the car with the windows down and loaded up the engine at low rpm - not constant and I (believe I) can hear the electronics managing this - I wonder if the surging is emphasied with a MT versus SMG
-
Yeah but it's there more often than not but only at part throttle. At full throttle there is no surging at all - very smooth/aggresive. Agree re the diagnostics check but keen to hear form other owners as to whether it is normalish - not an issue on you E36 M3 I take it?
-
Only now getting used to driving this vehicle – nowhere near as refined as my old 330i but these are obviously very different vehicles. The M3 has an intermittent surging thing going on - I would like to know if this is normal or not. Typically under light throttle in intermediate gears (2nd, 3rd, and 4th) the car sometimes surges – not quite a miss fire, more un-even acceleration. Seems to be there hot or cold but sometimes not there at all and sometimes quite intrusive. I would appreciate any comments from other E46 M3 owners etc

Electronics are a bit of a mystery to me but Repco are clearance selling Chinese CAN OBD11 T40/T45 diagnostic hand helds. Seems cheap at $80 but only so if it works on my late 02 M3. Any comments?

Like them (a lot) like they are - old man talking here though

nice car - great colour - must be time for a Manuwatu bimmersport meet

Wouldn't know the chap if I ran over him but do know that he is one of the cornerstones of this quite excellent forum - the talk of kids on the way worries me though - worried that the E30 will be replaced with a people mover (M powered of course)

A bit of a negative/positive plug for Jeff Grey - I had them replace the diff seals but they pushed them (the output seals) too far into the the housings - after my first test drive I had oil everywhere - I called and expalined what had happened - they drove 150km, collected the car and fixed it - I was very impressed and pleased - all good since

E39 Touring - anyone had dealings with this caryard?
central3 replied to wolfman's topic in TradeMe discussions
I brought my 330i off this guy - no complaints from me -
I wasn't aware of this to be honest - I replaced a lot of the the important bolts and nuts (propellor and drive shaft, diff mounting bolts, brake caliper bolts, tie rod end and ball joint nuts). Apart from minor non critcal items (e.g. exhaust bolts/nuts etc) that only leaves the bolts securing the front and rear bracing panel, the rear sub frame and the FCAB/RTAB bolts. I will consider replacing these too but I don't feel as if I have compromised things too much here (I have done this on a number of cars over the years and can't recall a failure or loose bolts).

I'm no expert on this but the seller is the guy I brought my M3 off. He is an ex BMW mechanic and knows his stuff. I had a look at this car 3 weeks ago - it definitely has the "fast rack". Nice car but quite a few stone chips.
-
So I've had a reasonable amount of interest and now a firm offer of $17K - ouch - I have spent the best part of $35K on this car over the past few years - your thoughts
-
If they are mint I am after - chrome kidney grills, floor mats (drivers in particular), boot plastic tray LH, tool set, business CD player
-
I would love to but they are brand new (fitted by previous owner) and my darling wife says I'm not allowed to spend any more money on it ;-(
-
Not much progress as I had to replace the steering rack in my daughters 325i over the weekend (thanks Ray - your rack as supplied was a good price and passed the WOF no problem). M3 diff back in, wheel back from having the kurbing removed ($110) and rear bumper back on - 1 more weekend should do it
-
Probably not paying attention but I haven't seen many black 328's around - looks great
-
A pair so 2? Fronts or rears? Condition? Price? Photos?
-
Bump - more photos added and now original wheels/springs/tyres and in the sale price - some early interest but no BS members

Yeah I know - with most (nice) cars I have owned I regulary (4 times a year) clean the under side of the car so apart from enjoying every moment of the work I am doing at the moment the new paint finishes will allow easier cleaning
