    Four door

Todays bit of fun. I'll post a few before we disappear off to the Hitech Awards. Ciao
  2. If you read the Autocar articles, 99.9% of all manufacturers have optimistic speedos. So if the needle is on 100, then you are probably doing about 97kph. As Jazzbass has pointed out the limit is 100. You can't argue over the supposed tolerance. They can and will give you a ticket above 100 if they feel like it. Be happy you don't live in Australia, the Victorian cops will do you for 103kph. And they have double point long week-ends. For the record, the time to pay the fine is 28 days and then a notice advising you, you have another 28 days, and then a final saying 14 days. Then it's off to court. As Gus highlighted, the points are accumulated when you pay the fine. So you need to figure out what the best course of action is (outside of driving with your eyes open, you dick). You can go to court and plead guilty on the day and pay the additional court costs if that helps you keep your licence.
  3. Jager shots. Why not sniff LPG too?! Happy Birthday Andy!
  4. Justice was served! Was that the Marlboro police? or Marlborough.
  5. post some pics of the extractors. They are awesome. 318isCoupe, have a look at the photos of the engine bay. A lot of stuff had to be moved to get the turbo and electronics working. And nothing was done to Rangi mods specs. Professional's did all the work.
  6. 47,000 in my work car. Another 10,000 in the BMW, plus 3000k in the Civic
  7. It looks like I'll be in with the Customs guys at the Strand.

    Zorbing

Haha, we'd only just come back from the Mount and it was filthy. Deb stopping at Swarovski as usual for another purchase.

    Zorbing

Deb & I went Zorbing (amongst other things on Friday). Bloody great fun. Anyone else tried it? I'm impressed with the people that can manage to run (like a hamster) inside it the whole way down.
  10. Yes, it's one of Selwyn's companies. Both Endace & Prolificx are his and up for the Microsoft sponsored class
  11. Anyone else going? The press release of the finalists. http://www.hitech.org.nz/news/2006-talent.shtml

GSM networks have varying base stations (BSC & BTS). Off memory NZ uses GSM 900 or 1800. And you also need to allow for the 2G & 3G issue. I'm sure Jochen or BMW can sort you out.
  13. I'd go with a 5 if you are wanting a tow car. If it's just to Pukekohe, then it really doesn't matter. I'd think an Evo 2 M3 (E36) would have more torque than a 528 or 530. An M5 or 540 gives you the best of both worlds.
  14. Is it any wonder people don't trust car dealers!! (not aimed at Conrod, either).
  15. www.powerbox.co.nz www.powerware.co.nz Powerbox would best the most cost effective decent power supply for your application. If you are running something Electronic, I would stump up for a Sinewave device (or at least as close to it). Modified sinewave is a rough arse solution and I would only use it for an Electrical load. If you are unsure, ask them what the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) will be.
  16. Cars are notoriously noisy (electrically). My first suggestion would be to run it from another Power supply (not connected to the car) and see if the noise goes away. If it does, then your DC is the issue, and I would buy a decent DC/DC converter (Nemic Lambda) from Powerbox. If not, then you are getting noise induced into the cables from the car elsewhere. You could fit some clip on Toroids, or run a shielded cable. I am assuming that it was working perfectly before you installed it and that this is a fitment fault and not a factory problem.
  17. It's actually a Swiss Hill climb. But he should enter D1, bloody good car control. That car is a weapon.
  18. Call the AA and then go to BMW dealer and fix the problem.
  19. Well, 2 reasons in my case. Our car hasn't got any stickers on it, BMWCC and International BMW Clubs in the back window. And you'd need to have been in Whareora to have seen me, or now Mair Park. Plus, I hardly ever get up there too.
  20. Haha, me too. Born at Northland Base Hospital.
  21. Fog lights are normally bad contacts. However both out could be something easier to find. Fuse box and then a Multimeter to find it.
  22. Coolant tank on left of photo. Boomerang shaped thing.
  23. Get someone to buy the 540 Conrod and I'll take it for a week-end vehicle. I spent many months watching this car evolve. $12k is a steal. You missed out on the ///M painted on the intercooler.
