However, the guys in the VW class are able to evolve their cars as their budget allows. IMO, the 318/320 class whilst being fun for the drivers, won't be a spectacle. It is not much better than Taxi racing (NZV8's), albeit alot cheaper. I'm a fan of when Bathurst was open to all comers, racing is always (and should be) about the guys with the most money winning. Formula Ford is a good example of a single car class not being equal to all.

944 is less than $10k to buy and then strip (no cost), put in a roll-cage, tyres and pad upgrade. If you get the turbo, 250hp standard. Much better than a 318 and handles better. To make it a serious race car, you have to double that. But a 318/320 car stripped with a roll-cage, isn't a serious race car either.

Porsche have made it work. 924's and 911 Turbos competing and it's exciting racing with various classes in the same field. However it is a cheap form of racing, you can easily spend $15k on a Kart. Although a good 944 Turbo could be set-up for about the same and be a much better car.

No, ours are 94/95 cars. Maybe Bruce Miles' one is this spec. It wasn't racing at Skope this year. Scott O'Donnell's is the sister car to our 2. Different plumbing at the front, doesn't have the bracing at the front of the motor, nor the shock setup. Inlet manifold has minor differences too. Ours have Pi systems in them and that ECU looks about the same size, but to my knowledge don't have the same cover. They look more like this one.

Spend the money on upgrading your car to one with a bigger motor. As Conrad says. That motor isn't up to much. Jazzbass, a turbo that old, had to be a Cordia. Are you a hairdresser?
