  1. Haha. We had one similar the other day. Went to walk the dog at Madills farm only to have a dude doing doughnuts on the grass in his riceburner, by the clubhouse. Little did he realise that a Mufti-cop car was waiting for his missus to walk the dog. Gave him a ticket. Funny as.

Damian, I can help. A Micro is 1 to the power of negative 6 (or a millionth in English). As metres are the SI unit for length, a micrometre is quite short. For example, a centimetre is 1 to the power of negative 2. Even using my eye-ometer, I'd struggle to see it. All calculations have been done in a Base 10 system.
  3. Why not just bore and stroke your own motor?
  4. Nice, clears for the sides and get the motorsport rear lights and I'd love it!
  5. Yes, otherwise the Americans would never have been able to do it until the 90's. Go and see Grunter (Grant Sylvester) at Sydenham Park in Moorhouse, he would be the best place to start in CHC.
  6. Hi Conrod, did he hold any stock? I know he has Super Tourer parts, he keeps promising me a list, but never gives it to me. What is it you are looking for Cam? I'd gaurentee, he doesn't have old stock for an E28!
  7. It used to be Lyall at Motorsport Lifestyle. Conrod should be able to give you an idea. He used to work there.
  8. Well done a nice evolution.
  9. I seriously doubt they are GPS aerials. You need 1 aerial and 3 satellites for a 2 dimensional position and a 4th satellite to give the the 3rd dimension (altitude). Someone lied to you.
  10. Very nice David. So, will it get a run around Taupo in January too? I'd lose the aerials too, and gain a ducktail spoiler. If I'd known it was in CHC, I'd have got you to have a look at the Super Tourers while you were there.
  11. A very nice pair of cars. The 535iS looks mint and I can't remember seeing a white E46 M3 before either. Welcome.
  12. I wouldn't own an E36 318iS. The BMW club presidebt had one (one of the rare Homologation specials) and sold it pretty quickly as it was too gutless. Loved the car, but wasn't good to cruise around in. The E30 318iS is the one to have, The E36 is too heavy!
  13. E36 or E30? David has admitted to letting one of his E30's go soon. It's a 4 door, but one of the best around. If you would like and E36, look at Andrew's E36. It's an auto, but goes fast enough for him to get his first speeding ticket in! I shouted him breakfast to commiserate. As I was passing through Ngatea on my way to Waihi.
  14. Please don't bugger up an E30 318iS. They are a great little car and rare. Not so fast, but handle well. As you are in Rotorua, go across to Taupo on the 14th Jan and check out the Club day.
  15. Have you looked at the heater control against the LHS firewall? The E34 started to leak there. There is a pump hidden underneath the 2 solenoids. Mine was leaking. It then blew (thankfully at home, I found it). About $100 from McMillans off memory. Head Gasket leaking should be giving you creamy oil.
  16. Just buy some new OEM discs (if they are not more expensive than seeing Steve @ racebrakes) and get the Mintex or Ferodo pads and buy some good tyres. In theory, the E34 discs would fit. Don't know about the calipers inside a 14" though.
  17. Oh, and seeing as you had your wheels, balanced at Leon's he'll recommend you something too. 3 Pedals has an E39 too, can't remember what tyres it has on. But Leon did his too.
  18. OK, if Leon can't fix it, it probably isn't tyre related. Take it over to Dean Jensen at Motorscience and get him to have a look at it.
  19. I had Goodyear F1's on mine prior to these Yoko's. They were excellent in the wet, quiet, lasted well (as long as they were aligned) and good in the dry. Not super for track work though. They are cheap too, a full set fitted for about $1000 incl Gestapo Tax.
  20. Good info Sparkle I'd go down the E34 540 route. If they stop my car in 30.92m 100-0. It will stop a light-weight E28 in no time at all. Watch your head on the steering wheel (ask Andrew). Mintex 1166 pads complete the package I have. I have Brembo rear vented & slotted discs. I honestly don't think they are significantly better than the OEM discs. See Steve at www.racebrakes.co.nz Conrod might have some input int this also. Pads and discs all round cost me about $1500, I think, it was a while ago now. Good tires make an even better addition.
  21. Well done, that is fast. Were they all done in one lane? Or did you use both? Always easier in the same lane to make improvements I've found. Faster than the last M3 we had at the DYO. 14.40 Paul, the times are worse and the speed higher, is generally a function of the wheelspin off the line, you lose on the ET, but actually have higher wheel speed through the last trap. On a DYO tree, isn't that last R/T a red light too? I got the best starts but dialling about 2800-3000rpm and dumping the clutch. The dual mass flywheel gives you no clutch feel. OK, you weren't in DYO. I assume it was stopped before the V8's got to run.
  22. I'd mount the switch near the drivers seat. And I'd look in the Bentleys manual for a wiring diagram. You can't out run a radio!
  23. Not on the North Shore, but Arrow Wheels in Avondale is the recommended place to clean your wheels up.
  24. As Andrew has stated, the REAL iS is a homologation special. I'm not saying that you don't have a very nice car. But put it up against a manual iS on a track and see which one has the performance. No, a clutch pedal is not the driving factor. I'm not sure of any manufacturer who is racing an Automatic. This is an E36 318iS.
