    WTB: Cheap e30

Jed, my green one will be ready for sale in a few weeks, 3k ish is a ballpark figure depending on spec. PM me if you wana talk turkey.
  2. All this build brings back is deja vu that I have done this sh*t too many times already, after this I'm having a break from modifying cars for a bit. Probably. Cheers bro, uncanny how similar our cars started out, hope this one will be just as baller as yours in the end. Plus once the m20 goes bang hopefully a m52 will go in so can be equal on displacement too. See you at Taupo in Sept
  3. Cheers Max. Update time. Engine and gearbox in, weekend before last. All thats needed now is to replace a missing powersteering pump bolt, throw some acc belts on it, buy a new battery and sort the wiring out to trick it thinking its in park all the time now so it can be started. Weekend just gone I spent all Saturday rebuilding and refreshing the brakes. Consisted of new plain rotors front and rear, OMP race compound pads in the front and OEM replacement rear pads. Also added were braided brake lines off my old car and also regreased the sliders. Driveshaft was also attached for good, and exhaust of my old car fitted apart from the rear mount which I forgot is different to a PFL, so will need to get handy with the welder and 'adjust' the rear valance to fit the exhaust nicely. Not much more to do then it's off for a cage which will be organised soon. Here's a few pics of bits and bobs. Cheers, Nathan
  4. Generally, isn't it 10% not 10k? I.e 56 in a 50, 110+ in a hundred etc etc As for the radars, if a deals too good to be true, it usually is.
  5. ^ Too bad bimmerworld's shipping to NZ is pathetic, the cheapest option last time I checked was $86 US, and that wasn't even a box of heavy things, more than likely a flat rate.
  6. Plastic bit looks to be what is usually moulded inside the gearknob, might be time for a new knob
  7. I laugh at all the race car drivers that have spent $$$$ lightening their car to the nth degree, then they themselves are ginormous. Go for a run and do some serious weight saving. And I agree with Oli, if you want to drive it regularly, don't bother. Sound deadening may weigh 20 to 30kilos but the noise gained from removal, especially with a non factory exhaust is not fun. If anything the main positive of removing the sound deadening is it leaves a place for rust to hide to be uncovered, which is good if you had holes in your floor like me - out of sight out of mind and all that. As for the carpet, you can use carpet from a SA car which is two pieces separate, the carpet and foam underlay, remove the underlay and replace, works good, just needs a few cable ties in choice places to keep it tight otherwise it sits loose. Thats all I can add for now, had plenty of experience with lightened road cars and regretted it later, aside from when on the track 10% of the total time I used the car, end of the day - in a predominantly road car, its all placebo effect.
  8. ^ Yes please. Today is the first time in about 2 weeks I have done anything to my own car. Will text you tomorrow about picking them up, Ta
  9. Thanks for the pic Jon I have a downpipe already, but I will take the center section on the left. That leaves one more bit of the puzzle to find! - which I think Andrew can help me with. Will be in touch about picking it up.
  10. You've probably got a metal hubcentric ring stuck on the hub, hence why the wheel won't fit.
  11. Bump I definitely need a factory 325i exhaust now, facelift or prefacelift it doesn't matter, surely someone has one as long as it's rust and leak free and will get a WOF I will be happy, I will pay extra for someone from Auckland to drop one to the depot etc. Cheers, Nathan
  12. Are E30 and E36 compact rear subframes the same? Particularly the rear subframe mount bushings? Anyone know?
  13. The front Koni's are no harder to install than OEM shocks, and you get plenty of instructions included. Weather is average here today and presently have no water thanks to a burst water main, shouldn't stop me getting the engine in though!
  14. Andrew, the camber plates came out of my green E30, I couldn't tell you how old they are either sorry.
  15. Front struts done with Koni Adjustiables and the specific progressive race series 320i king springs. New rack ends, tie rods, 23 mm whiteline sway bar with urethane D bushes and new end links. So thank god all the suspension is finished! No pics because it looks like it has factory ride height thanks to the lack of a engine and gearbox at the moment. Next up is the brakes (factory rotors, flash pads and braided hoses) and finish off the interior to get it all ready for the cage. Hopefully will get some pics after the engine installation this weekend all going well.
  16. Hey mate, have you checked my thread? 'The Interislander one' it has a bit of info in there on what you will expect to need and I was in the same position as you in regards to coverting to manual etc. I will PM you my number if your around this weekend feel free to pop over and I can answer and show you some of the things you've asked etc. Am busy in the middle of building up my 3rd E30 for the track and the first 100% track dedicated one, so can answer most questions. Cheers, Nathan
  17. Awesome looking E30, welcome
  18. ^ Ahh dammit. All good, too bad I didn't need it when you had it listed. 320 exhaust will do, just to sell the car with, neighbours aren't loving me starting it in the mornings off the manifolds to move it around the driveway
  19. I'll take the wheel and rocker cover and also those foglight blanks your selling, don't want the engine, but I can give you another rocker cover to keep the engine sealed, just want a plain factory one for when the car goes on sale.
  20. There are plenty of threads online in re: to diff modification, e30tech is the best place to look I have found for DIY stuff, if I was to do it I would pay a pro to do it imo, doing a front seal was scary enough. I should add this car is a very budget bang for buck build, there are many things we would like to do in terms of engine mods etc but there are far more important things to spend $$$$$ on than cars. Hoping to build the whole thing including respray and rollcage for under 10 grand, very much on track at this stage, with only the brake parts to buy and cage + paint really. I should add due to my Dad having health issues, it will be me I will probably be driving this on the track once it is done for the short term, and I can't wait to get it out there, even though it is basically a shared car at this stage
  21. I know its not exactly what you want, but I have some dark blue leather recaro 4 door seats in alright condition, need a little love, with door cards etc. Will do cheap cheap. Just putting that in there
