^ Thought I better name drop one of the bimmersport elite

Also my AKG engine and gearbox mounts are shipped as of this morning, will be here in a week. I ordered this set in 75D urethane: http://www.akgmotorsport.com/catalog/view....es/MTS325lg.jpg $185 NZ shipped to my door. They have fantastically fast and efficient service, even refunded the extra $ I put in for that flat rate for Australasia shipping. Definitely recommend them, Ashkan said this mount set are awesome so should be good times ahead

Jeddy, I soaked my bolts, nuts and valves in diet coke for about 18 hours, occasionally agitating it. Pulled them out this morning and they are a lot cleaner, if anything they helped more with breaking down the loctite on the threads and softened the silocone also, making the bolts heaps cleaner now. Soaking them in Morning fresh and some hot water (brilliant budget degreaser) then they should be clean enough for me and ready for install. Have also seen people using a dremel with a polishing attachment and polishing the individual bolts heads if your that anal about it not for me though

^ Thanks Brent. Just post on this thread if you find it. Anyone else know for sure they have one? Cheers

Anyone seen one of these before/have one hidden away? Can buy them online but shipping kicks my ass. Any help is appreciated. Cheers, Nath

Three months later, I am bringing the car home tomorrow, that is if it makes it that far in it's semi complete state. Cheers Braeden, hopefully the other two come out just as good.

Annoying thing people do on Trade Me
Forrest replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
People selling worthless stuff for stupid amounts of money and/or overpriced stuff for people trying to screw over the Nana's - aimed specifically at car parts. -
So sick, massive improvement. +1 for saving another E30

^ I have one fan left....woohoo

3rd year Marketing/Management Back on topic, I am enjoying this discussion, best one on here in a while.

^ Sunday is for two hour training runs not sitting in a room that smells like old people

^ Lol yes. Aside from the fact it has a 2.9 stroker also and a jungle gym. Does have the Alpina front spoiler, facelift Alpina rear spoiler, black RS's, M20 powered still, colorcoded sills etc etc hehe so there is a little in common. Need to find some of those 296mm Alpina rotors kerrrching

The ironic thing is my favourite E30 ever and the one I have had a lot of inspiration from, the owner painted his RS's gloss black too. Thread here http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86053 doesn't get much more badass than that. Alas I will ride the storm of hate, can't wait to get it out on the track with it's new additions, it has only been 10 months.
-
Until someone else rebuilds a set themselves then they will see why I painted them a safe color in the end. The labour spent taking them all apart by hand and the prep for paint then the paint (waiting 24 hours between etch prime, surface prime, base then clear x 4) then refitting makes it seem silly if you don't like the color 100% which I didn't. I would've just thrown them away if I didn't, wouldn't bother taking them apart again so for me, it was a too bigger risk to take. Sorry to disappoint everyone. BMW Sepang Bronze was my other choice but the examples I have seen it came out either really brown or really gold.

Sickness, just need a shot of clear and I can button two of em up. Soaking the bolts now Jed, will let you know if I have any more success. Also, my lips are clear coated from factory, little cut and polish along with some wax and they look sweet as the pictures show.
-
I like this guy, you do commerce at uni too right?
-
It is alright Simon, you can't see what color they are when your behind me on the track.
-
Haha I agree Dave, I call it a social experiment anyway. Plus one day when I grow up and the trend fizzles out painting RS's silly color's won't be the 'in thing' anymore and it is not like I am doing this again anytime soon.
-
It has been done before, abeit not easily: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90004

HB Dean, have a good one bro, have to catch up again sometime soon.

Havn't tried anything yet, will try coke. I am tempted to try some POR15 metal parts cleaner/degreaser that my Dad used while building his Fraser, according to him it burns through fabric but will be careful to see if it is not too corrosive. Might use a toothbrush as well to help. Oh and Glenn, I will get some new pics today, looks improved with the new color
-
2 wheels done, they are staying gloss black. Will remind me a lot of this car in it's earlier incarnation: Just did a AKG motorsport order for some engine and gearbox mounts, hopefully here within a week. DTM mirrors have been paid for, hopefully arrive in a week or so, as long as they get here before the Taupo track day I don't mind. More pics of badass sh*t to come.
