Pre-purchase mechanical - where's the best place?
E30stz replied to a13antichrist's topic in General Discussion
Pay the full price and get it at BMW - least then you can get an idea of how much its gonna need repaired and they may even giev you a cost summary. I foudn hte AA werent to my liking after a few of there inspections. Complaints were made. $125 from Jerrys $112+GST from Team Maccas i think check your locals. -

I was curious - how much have you spent on servicing your manual E30's, just wanting to compare costs with driving an auto. Maintenance on a manual seems so much higher than on a auto.

that made pretty much no sense. You can use candy apple spray oh your rear taillights that looks mint. I'm considering giving it a go soon, but would need to purchase a new set of lights as my indicators crackz0red The thread for doing it can be found on: http://e30.bmwdiy.info/red-tails/index.html I'm not sure whether the WOF dudes would kick your arse on it ... with smoked lights your lights have to visably flash orange .. but then again I'm not sure these guys would be able to tell they have been changed.

I'd go for the 40-60k one as it would have a greater resale value in the future. Just dont get a compact

this thread should have been locked ages ago. This battle has only just started .. - Pikachu I choose YOU!

I know where you could get a set of Enkei Tourismo's which have very much a similar look to them. They are off an E30 so will fit like bread on butter. They are polished, which is hte only problem. But surely you can get them repainted in white. Pics = the guy originally wanted $1500 for them but said he would go as low as $1200. They have 2 new tyres on the front other ones are good apparently.

I've decided to give my car a good polish and wax before the South Auckland meet to clean up all the paintwork. My car is a prefacelift 88 and I really want to be careful about keeping my clearcoat and paint in good nick and try not to damage it. I have 1 small area around the sunroof which the paint is flaking a bit, I'm assuming that I should avoid this area. I have a electric buffer, but I dont have a licence to use one. I know you use it lightly with no pressure, and assume you swirl it on and buff it off ... but thats about it, is there something im missing here. My arsenal of products I have to work with include: Meguiars Scratch X Meguiars Nxt Generation Car Wash Meguiars Gold Class Wax Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner Meguiars Swirl Remover 2.0 I'd like to know if someone could help me by talking me through the polishing and waxing process. Will post pictures of progress.
