  1. i have some info on this car i think..all i did was email sytners in the uk(alpina dealer) and they sent me some info back. The info is on my old computer which has a dead monitor.....If it is silver and at one time registered to a guy in Paraparaumu,(with a name very similar to dwayne actually) then it is the car i looked at.The std 535 has about 215 hp and i think the non turbo b10 is somewhere around 250hp

  2. my inspection at shelleys on a 535 was really good. They had the part numbers and prices of some of the paarts that needed replacing....they didnt hve labour charges tho.....Unless you know a lot about the cars you ae looking at a check can save you thousands and thousands....esp on Benzes...a mate of mind found out the hard way on a 560???

  3. to me an //M aint worth s&^T unless it is a M3 or M5.I am pretty sure that the 1990 535IS cars were all sold by BMW NZ debadged with only an //M badge on them...mine came off almost straight away....by all means tell it like it is ie sports seats etc,but dont call it a motorsport unless it actually is.If it is good if it aint dont call it one.

  4. If you can argue that the gas cannister within the xenon filament is in the same place as the halegen setup, ie: creating exactly the same beam patttern etc, all you're doing is changing the light intensity

exactly the argument for and against right there.....

gas-charged bulb like the late model Subarus (like the B4 RSKs) to get the look

I always thought they were HIDS in the b4s.....

  5. but they always squeeze the car in and do it swiftly. So, their service department keeps me coming back and probably will get another sale out of me.

Always routine stuff of course eh Cain????.Mcmillans did my pre purchase check on the 535,all done by phone and fax,the guy spent some time on the phone with me,thought that was good for only 135.....Have heard some murmurs about xr6 turbos....

  6. i had to get one of my wheels done thru taranaki st tyres,i think they went to chch and were x rayed for cracks by air new zealand then back to this guy then back to me!!!I will try to find out who taranaki st tyres use(d)

  7. Ot re re 750 but when i was looking for my new car, which turned out ot be the 535 i looked at falcons and commodores.I am 6 3 and the seating in the falcon was just plain wrong..I just could not get comfortable in the thing. The commodore was oK.At about that time i started looking at beamers and Brent told me that an ss commodore of about the same era was no way comparable to the 535 re roadholding/comfort.

  8. thats not half bad martyn...I think the best i have ever had from the 535 was 27 mpg the very first weekend i had it driving it proudly home from Auckland to Wellington=9.6km/l=10.39l 100 kms,and the very best instantaneeous reading at app 100 kms was about 9.6l 100 ks=10.44km/l=29.3mpg.I think my obc is slightly pessimestic....

  9. open road too much yet, but it looks like i should get 9-11L/100km

you will be very lucky to get anything below 10......unless you are goung 90ks on the flat with a tail wind....the autos are prolly turning lower revs at 100 tho

  10. They say "complete replacement headlamp units", how about one of those pre-installed headlamp housing with HID and self-levelling that we can get from overseas??

I read it as meaning that if you install a set of factory xenons you will have no problems(i know that some e 32 had xenon headlights).Hella for example also have complete kits for retrofitting and i guess that is what you are talking about. If they comply with relevant uk standards (ie rhd) you would have a fair chance here.I imagine they will be pretty expensive tho.Did e 36s have a xenon option??

  11. bma guy, even though you are buying of a freind make sure you get the car checked out by someone who knows what they are looking at.BMW dealers will perform a standard quite thorough test or take it a bmw independent mechanic. It will possibly be the best 150 bucks you spend. Also make sure that ALL electrics work(or at leastknow what doesnt!.)I think this is true for ANY car purchase.

  12. yeah sixth plus more modern combustion chamber sesign...at 100 ks the 5 is turning 2250.At one of the bmwcc driver days was talking to a guy from whangarei who came down to manfield,he said his 635 is more economical than his 535,at 100 the six was doing a bout 1900 rpm

  13. superbikes and all the moto gp classes,if you want to see close racing watch the 125 moto gp bikes, not on very often man theres ussually 10 of em scrapping for the same peice of track.Actual moto gp bikes are fairly boring cos valentino rossi is so dominant,at least had the guts to leave the dominant team(honda) and go to prolly the next best(yamaha) to make some interest for us all!

  14. BMW 535IS

    E34

    1990

    Manual

12.4 L 100 KM easy round town driving

    very easy open road driving 10 l 100 k

    slightly more sporting or hilly 11 l 100 k

I knew Cain would beat me...sigh modern technology i spose..

when i bought my car the guy i bought it lived in ponsonby and worked in the middle of Auckland CBD,where in rush hour it takes about 7 ttraffic light changes brfore you can get across the intersection....the obc said 17 l 100 k!!!

Still the big tank makes for a good range tho, wellington Auckland on one tank,be pretty low tho......
