I think the most important thing is to get the cooling system 100 per cent.and to ensure as best you can that it has not been overheated. You need to think about this peice of the story."it just needs a good service".......That implies it HASNT had good maintenance. The car you are looking at is a baby compared to most of the cars here.A car with the most basic care would not have any of the more minor issue s this car has(eg brake hoses,Weak(sic) coolant, needing a brake flush etc.All that is basic servicing.Brake discs low, maybe as maybe the previuos owner didnt want to spend the cash on a car he was about to sell. However it seems to me that this car has had a BAD service history.

all true, but if i was in the market now for an e34 again it would prolly be for an M5.If it was for the "best daily" e34 it would be the nicest car i could find either a 535 or a 540.my experience is the 535s are somehow more appealing but the 540 is more about the engine
-
i think they can go down more yet...However "close" they are to an M5 they are not an M5 so they will always be worth less.
-
that what i meant
-
that would have been a good price to sell at
-
why?,its exactly the same model just a a couple of years later.
-
its a rare car but not any "rarer" than a 535is (for example)

if nothing else see if you can plug /unplug/clean the connector a few times it may solve the problem if it is a poor connection -

Skoda octavia scout tdi.go drive a diesel you wont beleive how nice they can be on the open road.a 2.o litre turbo diesel has the torque of a 3-4 litre petrol engine and will go nearly twice as far on a tank.$$$ wise there may not be as much difference, the ruc equates to 5 c a kilometer for me or about 30 bucks a tank.Rego is more too,but the range torque, makes up for it even if the actual $$ per kilometre were the same or more.

thats good ,you have learned a valuable lesson. The overall condition of a car is ussually a very good indication of its true condition. This is not always true for dealer prepped cars, they know how to make a car look good.Get some paperwork to back up the good looks. This is why a good service history is wanted with BMW,s -
should hope so they are 400 hp (the factory says) and torquey with it
-
prolly gonna say he relisted it to get the proper km reading

i think just about everyone who has had an E34 has had this issue

there is some good stuff here.I drove an e39 540 six speed and it was TOO nice

1) make sure your wheels and tyres are very well balnced and that the wheels are a proper fit(72.5mm hub) or have the appropriate hubcentric ring for the wheels you do have. 2)Make sure you have the best two wheels on the front if you have any out of roundness issues 3)If you still have the shimmy after this it will almost certainly be the UPPER control arm bushes, they need to be replaced with ether 750 i or e34 M5 bushes. and tightened under load. here is an excellent e34 site

I think the e39 s still look great, and will always look great.
-
if nothing else give the battery a proper charge up,you might save it

My main reason for sayin a e39 m5 i think a e 60 545 or 550 m sport would be awesome pity they dont come in manual.Might seem a strange choice but if looking at e60 you must drive a 530 d
