  1. I need to paint the inside shell (stripped race car) and the painter wants the wiring loom all pulled forward. Can you disconnect the under floor diff and sundry harness (speed sensors) without removing the diff? Ie the one that drops from the inside, to underside, right on top of the diff.
  2. Yipee, Have receive the MANZ Logbook and cage homologation paperwork and passed the scrutineer audit and signoff. I can now paint the cage and start the reassembly / finishing work.
  3. Geoff Steel carbon fibre door cards on Carbon Fibre / Alu honey comb sandwich floor plate in Coming together...
  4. Sound. Only taken for a very short drive, like 200m. It's loud, but not stupidly loud. Good idle sound and a nice pitch increase as you rev. Will report again on this once it gets a proper drive. It's currently hesitating at cold plus low revs, which I believe is the vanos solenoid stuck again. Rebuild due within 2 weeks .
  5. Custom Cages FIA paperwork approval now complete, phew. Now onto MANZ cross certification paperwork.
  6. Supersprint exhaust on, Full decat X pipe (PN 043612) and race muffler (PN 043606). People told be the OEM was heavy, but F me, was it ever. OEM Mid Pipe with Cats 20.8kg Supersprint DeCat X pipe 7.8kg OEM rear muffler 30.5kg Supersprint rear race muffler 11.4kg 32kg saved! Note, mid pipe might have has some water in it adding to the weight. Silly me forgot about the gaskets, so reused the exisitng ones. No apparent leaks, but will reorder new manifold/mid section ones and refit them later.
  7. I'm fitting a new full (header back) super sprint exhaust to the E36 M3 3.0, There is a exhaust ring (soft composition) between the rear and mid section, like the picture below. It was very stuck on the old pipe, but i managed to knock it off by knocking the flange behind it. When i try to reinstall it onto the new mid pipe, it wont go on. I cant bang it on as its composition is soft and i'll destroy it, and unlike the uninstall (metal flange is only on the inside). Yes, yes, i know you are officially suppose to replace them, and i will once stock arrives but i want to get this on the road this wkend. Do these things shrink after first being used? Any tips to get it on?
  8. Silly me forgot to think ahead. Fitting my new Supersprint race exhaust this wkend and didn't order any new gaskets. Anyone stock these in NZ? Don't really want to wait for BMW ex Germany. Ideas?
  9. We put a 200KVA prime in a couple of years ago. I shopped around and we purchased from IT Power (Auckland) in the end. Turn key install and post sales support. We went top shelf electrical (ATS, Controllers, and Alternator) and chinese assembled Cummins and struck a good $/Value balance. PM me if you want info. I was surprised at how non hungry some of the traditional suppliers were. Some didt'nt even call me back!
  10. I'm no expert, but poly bushes can also induce binding, not so much on a stiff track car, but potentially more so on a softer sprung street or rally car. Not ideal.
  11. for 190 pounds (pair), you cant complain. Its not a show car, so doesn't have to be 100% perfect anyway.
  12. just do OEM RTAB bushes and limiters from M3_power. Ask nice, and he might lend you the bush removal/install tool. Did mine a month ago
  13. Parts Arrived!! From Geoff Steel racing UK. Door cards and Alu honeycomb / Carbon sheet for floor
  14. E36 Cage '2011 design' > Core Cage £1231 in T45 (cheaper if you go steel) > Airfreight £500 (cheaper if you sea freight) > Add GST 15% (incl freight) Options: > Extra bars $21 pounds a metre Add time to install cage. approx 40 hours Mine was closer to 80 as we had extra bars, sump guards, sunroof roof repair, bonnet pins, sundry mount points, and more. You can install them pretty quickly, but depends on how much of a perfectionist you are. If you go T45, get the special weld wire from custom cages as well.
  15. Note sure exactly. The package from the UK was 70kg, but that included spare bars, packaging and sundry. It wont be super light, but it will be strong and certainly lighter than a std steel cage of the same spec.
  16. Stub bar to back of wheel well added. Stops lower bank impacts from pushing wheel into footwell and pinning feet.
  17. yes, i would love some. that looks a little $ thou.
  18. I have a smallish hex bolt on an M3 RTA. Its ex UK and quite corroded. The inside hex is stripped and i've tried vice grips on the outside without luck. I've also soaked in penetrating oil. Any ideas on the next step to get it out? Hacksaw a screw head into it or ?
  19. true, was tempted to go 245. Then i looked into it and most others run 235 for 'some' reason. I assume its more progressive 'let go' (less grip) and more bump absorption in the wall. If it was a track car, the build would be quite different. Coilover rears, stiffer as opposed to safer cage, light weight everything, 18's + 6pot brakes etc
  20. Not the rails i purchased as those are designed for bucket seat / side mount. The OEM are bottom mount.
  21. Alternatively , 245/40 17 I Didn't wanna go that wide for targa
  22. Initial rubber here. Have gone for the safe bet of Dunlop 03G Medium. Have had to run with slightly taller 235/45/17, as Dunlop dont do a OEM size 235/40/17. This should provide some additional compression for ruff roads, and also warm up slightly quicker due to more sidewall roll. As i have a upgraded to a 3.91 over the std 3.15, gearing should still be ok. Testing will tell.
  23. Harness/Seat bar in (New rear mount FIA standard required a Hoop mount for the seat) Door X and and 2nd A pillar in. Sill bar yet to be installed. Bonnet Areo latches
