  1. Do you mean ICV (Idle Control Valve???) if so it is found between the throttle body and the air box, vague I know but thats where it is Get a new one and You will identify it easily, as for the catch tank a non vanos engine has a breather outlet at the front of the engine on the intake side there is a twin outlet one is 12mm the other about 8 i think, both go to the same place so you could block the 8mm one off and just have a breather on the tank, no need to return to the sump. Vanos I dont know I would have to go and have a look at my car.
  2. Buggar just noticed that you have a e36 any e36 diff will bolt up I have a 3.64 in the 323 coupe and accelaration is ok ,auto though. do you have a M42 engine?? Twin cam?? forget most of what I said in the eariler post accept the bit about pulling chicks.
  3. Gidday Mate firstly each to their own on the wheels, if you like them then sweet as thats all that matters, Diffs you can fit the diff from Z3's to an e30 I think, e36 is all a different mounting system so a no go, small and medium case if I am correct is actually small and large for an e30 as the large actually relates to a 535 and will not fit an e30 anyway, the small is what you would find on 316/318 and some 320's med or large on 325 they all fit any e30 however just a simple adjustment to the prop shaft is required. I am running a 3.64 in the m50 with about 230 bhp and I am looking at changeing for more acceleration so you must be really struggling, I beleive that most 318is' came out with 4.10 ratios and 325i sports had 3.91's these ratios were used for a reason (performance) your current ratio would be great on fuel consumption and potentially have a higher top speed (if you could get anything out of the engine) but will suffer poorer acceleration. You will never beat a vtec with a change of diff alone they are pretty good engines and a wole lot newer technology goes into them, but you are gauranteed to pull more chicks in the beemer. :thumb: Best bet a 4.10 LSD (good luck though)
  4. cheers for the suspension info e30 323i you obviously know your stuff I will no doubt give you a shout when I'm ready to hand over some readies, I looked at Avo's you happy with them?? Yep kings and kybs were put in when I had the m10 in it quite suitable then(read cheap) absolute crap now, could be keen on your koni's just bought new house so will have to wait for a few weeks till im back on my feet. Andrew Link is sweet, had some initial issues getting fueling right but now it is easy, need to look at cold start fueling but thats no biggy yes I am using the map sensor however TPS does most of the fueling iirc, will be useful when I find that centrifugal supercharger :thumb:
  5. yep sorry vacuum booster the e30 one fouls the intake manifold the golf one is a bit smaller in diameter, thats the car on kingsprings superlows and 195/50/15 tyres and yep it sits way to high, this is why I need coilovers or anything else you guys can suggest???? Only one seat at the mo but have had second while tuning so yeah a skid is possible give us a buzz if your ever in town Gus 021 405 640, had it out at manfeild yesterday just doing a single car sprint on the short track, all went well but highlighted the inabilities of the kings and kybs and possibly the arb's as the things is like a whale, but a big fun one, need that LSD or its out with the welder anyone got one???
  6. Yep will mainly be doing Manfeild, in fact out there on saturday at a car club bent sprint, yeah open diff sucks just will not work, you are out of the throttle all the time just to get traction, times 1:33 in the rain on slicks there is plenty more in the car but the drivers a bit naff about ten spin outs including one on to the front straight at about 120kph scary stuff, I'm Picking 1:26's in the dry with a bit of experience, just fitted a brake servo from a mk2 golf so hopefully brakes will work a bit better now.
  7. Mind me asking how much I should budget for a conversion such as this? Not at all I reckon if you are using e30 325i ecu and loom etc you could have it done for about 3 grand, thousand bucks for engine, thousand bucks for extractors which could be avoided if ou are handy with a welder, and a grand for the little things that always pop up, this is assuming you will be doing the work yourself. this has cost me a lot more with the link, new radiator, fookin expensive clutch new gauges etc it never ends. if I were to do this again I would consider a m52b28 if you could find one or ultimately an s50b30 or s52b32 just to really make it worth while, however with the link etc I should have about 240bhp at the fly wheel with out any engine mods.
  8. Yep the engines sweet in the e30, red lines at 6400 has heaps of torque, trouble is with a 3.64 open diff and over driven getrag 260 first is pretty much useless, second and third wheel spin too easily and in fourth the 325i brakes struggle to stop it all that well (read good in the dry dangerous in the wet) fifth... well never get there at manfeild, lsd and brakes next, but first suspension, currently on king spring superlows and kybs but theses just aren't up to the job, ground control coilovers on the way.
  9. Nevr mind the finish its about go not show except for my phat as ultra functional wing :mosh:
  10. As soon as I figure out how to upload Photos I will post some of the M50 conversion, the car is going great had some issues with brakes etc but now sorted, good hp not had on dyno yet but that is comming, skids wheels all the way down intermediate straight at Manfeild if you want, probably a bit hard to drive with the gear box/diff ratios. good fun though need a LSD. cost a shite load but thats because I started with a 316 and used link etc, I would be happy to help anyone with a road car conversion of a 325, man i saw a m50 from a 525 which is exactly what you need on trademe for $1000 buy now. Well keep an eye out, hopefully today.

    Wrecking M325i

  12. Sweet, I will flick it off to you as soon as I get it.

    E30 Engine

m50 conversion has cost me $6k with no labour, however I have installed a link and all new loom etc, trouble is you have to build headers etc bling bling,You could do it cheaper if you had ecu etc with engine, m20 gearbox works also. I also have a e36 323i which is an m52 2.5l vanos no such thing as a m50 2.3 and I am pretty sure there is no 2.5l m50 323i either 1996 first year of m52 hence 323i, could be wrong though
  14. in the sprit of development of all things good - I have one you can have for the cost of postage, send me a courier pack to NZAA po box 1044 Palmerston North and I'll hook you up. Andrew Johnson
  15. Yep I got some with warrantable michelins, $250.00 perfect condition except for centre cap stickers worn and falling off give me a call 021405640 if you are interested Cheers
  16. Znoelli in auckland do them hub centric and bolt on, perfectly safe and certifiable, but not cheap $125 each I think for 25mm, the only risk is under extreme conditions you have two sets of threads holding each wheel on instead of one = twice the risk of something failing
  17. S50 intake cam on intake side of M50 and m50 intake cam to exhaust side, I would expect a lot of bling$$$ unless you find a second hand one cheap. supposed to produce good gains though, just buy an m3 :thumb:
  18. Yep i'll post up some pics and info etc in the next week or so, just about complete a tuning issue has it running on five, just waiting for the link module to turn up to get that sorted. :thumb:
