Ahhhh yes brings back memories - great job so far mate - stoked for you with the ZF box fitting up, I had to significantly modify the selector arm on the 260 to get it to go in the hole.
-
Fits the pedal fine, from memory I just had to make up a clamp at the TB end - you could just crimp an end on it to make it work defo need the m50 one however. I used e36 cost about $40 from the wrecker.
-
I'd be real keen on a kit for a pre f/l with a large front splitter for the race car price dependant of course.
-
Yep certainly does not sound like a diff issue, maybe clutch if manual or auto box electronics, does the car rev normally? A diff issue would normally be clearly apparent by loss of power to one wheel and significant noises when damaged.

I got mine form BM warehouse in Hamilton, they are two companies now I think Mosen Bmw or something they found one no problems, someone will get you the details

Gidday firstly I am looking for a 3.91 small case diff if anyone has one lying about, also any type of kit for a pre facelift - prefer cheap as it is going on the race car and will take a bit of a pounding don't want to destroy a nice mtec 1 Also I am looking for a trailer plug set up for a e46 328i I understand that there are some issues with the warning light systems etc and a special adaptor is required any one have any ideas on this, car has towbar fitted as option from new but no light plug. Any help as always appreciated. Cheers

Definately e36 alloy arms, and I used the m50 radiator without the plastic tanks and have a seperate expansion tank, the e30 325 radiator will also work mint. Sorry I should have made myself clearer about the arms - e36 alloy arms and e28 rubber engine mounts mounted on the outside holes on the subframe. Cheers

Gidday Ray , I am after a couple of things for the race car - Preface lift kit any type? - just want to tidy her up, and will change front bar some what any way and a 3.91 small case diff? Appreciate any help Cheers
-
Gidday Mate , just check the comptability of the e28 shaft with your zf box before you buy, the pcd of the rubber guibo (doughnut) may be different.

What Have you got on the skirts, I can't access TM at work very keen on them. Cheers
-

-

Mate there is plenty of info on the net re the m50 swap www.e30m50.com is a good one, it is a simple swap and the list is not that long, from memory I list below the things i needed - bear in mind mine is a track car only so had less issues with compliance worries etc. M50b25 engine Getrag 260 Box E34 m50 sump, oil pick up and dip stick tube E28 535 motor mounts Drive shaft I used the rear section of my 316 manual and the front section from a e28 525 to fit the box, just a bit of trial and error to get the right PCD Gearbox mount - custom made my own you can use the e30 one with the M50ZF box with e21 mounts, with the getrag easier to make your own Brakes, either move the servo(hard) or fit one from a mk11 VW golf - smaller in diameter and clears the inlet manifold, just needs a little spacer droped into the M/C shaft. Exhaust , custom is really the only way to go here - you can modify the tubuler mani from the M52 but it is not as nice as a set of headers, standard cast ones go in the bin no way to make it fit. that is your list as I recall, electrical issues I overcame by running a link and have no other electrics to worry about. Water pump would be my first thought, some of the M50/52's have a plastic impeller which can be troublesome, doesn't really explain the intermittent problem however when not under load maybe as you suggest the pump works and when you give it some punch it gives up the ghost. This is where I would start any way. Could aslso explain the heater not working as it is reliant on the water to the heater unit I think. Cant help with the CD's must be the Phat Beats!

Yep find the M50 box, I'll take one too! I have the 260 in my car and to be honest I have no issues with the angle of the stick - however I have modified the stick to reduce throw as much as you can and increased the length to put it closer to the steering wheel works brilliantly but not pretty enough for a road car, I also had to shorten the selection arm to line up to the hole in the tunnel, I simply cut and re tig'd no real drama at all, you could possibly correct the angle when you did this but I am not sure how this would effect gear selection. There is no easy way I am aware of to fit the 260 and correct the angle but honestly it is not that bad initially i had to trim the tunnel a bit to engage 5th but in hindsight some new bushes probably would have sorted that. after a couple of days in the car you will not notice it, there are no associated gear selection issues and it doesn't look all that stupid.

Gidday I am really interested in this thread, with me not knowing alot about S/Cing are you confident that the SC14 is up to the task I have heard mixed reviews about using this blower, and it comes from a fairly small engine compared to your 3.5l the reason I ask is that I was looking pretty hard at putting one on the m50 2.5l and was unsure of its capability I also will be running 6-8psi to avoid significant engine mods. I look forward to your progress.

Could aslo be your diff bush or subframe bushes worn, have you had the diff out at all?
-
I might have missed something but I take it you are talking a 2L M20? If I were looking at this type of swap I would buy a wrecked 325 and swap everything over!
-
Gidday Mate don't have dyno readings but the M52b28 puts out 193bhp from factory, torque figures I am unsure of but you could look them up easily, delivery is very good though - You could expect to pay upwards of $2K for a good engine alone.
-
Gidday Mate, could be a number of things, first things I would check are the ball joints and and control arm bushes, also would check the strut top mount for any play.
-
Bump - still for sale $9k will buy it now, Excellent condition, sports seats, great car.
-
Ive got one out of a early 316 m10 monster, but the spider gears have been welded and then the weld has broken, crown wheel and pinion are still fine though, cracked rear cover also - can be fixed, will part exchange for a good 3.91 med case open if you know of one.
-
Gidday are these hub centric to 51mm?
-
Gidday depending on how worked your 2.5 is then a 3.91 diff is the one you will want if you are looking for faster acceleration, if you have pretty high Hp then you may want to drop to a 3.64 gives you a higher top speed and lowers the revs at 100kph, your gearbox ratios will also affect all this. As for a LSD you won't find one for under about $750 and then finding a ratio that you want will be difficult changing the crown and pinion is possible but setting it back up can take some expertise. A case of waiting for a while til one comes up and then having the cash to grab it. As for the Steering rack you can fit a e36 rack M3 etc which has a better ratio and the z3 I think also fits all with some mods of course, can't recall the ratios but search the web there is heaps of info on this I also recall something about a sunbeam rack turned upside down - 1.5 turns from lock to lock on the roads you will find yourself upside down in no time.
