Where to get Eisenmann mufflers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnTrdh_uBdU Now with a Magnaflow X pipe... Recorded right above it in the boot (bit harsh) -
Hi guys, When I drive my 540i E34, with the M60B40 engine. I find that after accelerating normaly off the lights, going though the gears up to 4th or 5th (Auto), if I take my foot off, and coast the revs drop to around about 600 rpm, the interior lights and headlights dim because the alternator is not spinning quick enough, then a second or so later it eases it's way back up to around 1000rpm when coasting. The same thing happens if I apply the accelerator and take my foot off everytime. This seems to be most prominent at 45-75km/h. I was thinking it must be ICV related? Any ideas would be appreciated Thanks.

Hmmm yes I think I'll get an Magnaflow X pipe for this. It needs it.... one of those should cut the drone and drop the Db level by around 10. Would give it a nicer tone without a doubt An H pipe is good, but a cheap way of balancing the system, yet offers little in regards to scavenging & causes turbulence in the pipes due to the 90 degree bends, the sound is also a bit American for my taste. Having to order one from USA, there is nothing in NZ and Australia is a bit poor too. -

Both, the guy gave them to me 20% less, his name was Troy when I come to think of it. Ahhh I just worked out what I reminds me off, kinda the sound of a V8 super car inside. I think all I need to do, is get a proper X pipe. Should make it sound better, and quieten it a tad, also improve power... -

I do indeed Ian 'Muff OVL OC 200x100x360mm ID 63mm Code RD41266' I got them for $255.62 including GST. They do drone a tad only a few 100 rpm between 1k rpm above and bellow, perhaps my resonators should have been longer (14" < 16"), or maybe I need more of them, perhaps two more smaller mufflers in the bent cavity after these mufflers on the back could work....... Another few hundred fitted though, might sound better? IDK! It's not bad by any means the drone, more so just me and my fanaticalness with things, all I do is keep spending, been to Mr Muffler 4 times to get what I have so far! -
Looking at that just made me ill. I think I'm going to die now. Perhaps we should put together a fund to buy some explosives, rent out a field and blow it up Top Gear style?

Yep, on the new video Ive quickly made there are two pictures of the quirky side mounted oval mufflers 20 seconds into it. Why hears another of how it sounds in the car's boot above the muffler, with a so so sony camera mic. Might need two small 2.25" mufflers behind the mufflers already there, I dont see resonators doing much, I already have two. What do you guys think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbfRu4ys6Ec -

Mr Muffler? He is the best, good old Dean. Ive spent thousands over the years at his place. Always does a good job, everytime! It's just the one guy, leaves pit stop in the dust. -
I have heard the performance is so so, to what most people would expect compared to the V8 version More of a cruiser than a thrilling V12, obviously. Having said I have never driven one so clearly don't have much say on this. Though, they are one of my favorite cars of that era, If your good for the money, buy it sir!

Hahahahaha, I was wondering who would find that. Don't ask Sure creaver, They were $250 for the pair, Kinda small mufflers, if they were any bigger I think that would kill the tiny drone I have at 900-1400rpm. But I dooo rather like the sound from 1500-6500 too much to care. This was the best way to keep a true dual V8 exhaust, as basically I had the mufflers put on their sides and welled together, Fits the cavity with ease. Mr Muffler in Onehunga sorted it out. I got an H pipe fitted, but when I feel the need, Ill get a Magnaflow genuine X pipe from USA and have that fitted, would be nicer IMO. But for now its pretty good with out spending another $250 for one of those purchased and fitted. -

Haha, sadly no Eisenmann... I priced one up delivered, was looking at $2350, plus any customs charges. Kinda worth it if I had a M540i E39 or something, but not so worth it when the car is only worth twice as much as the muffler! Anyway, I got the parts from Chase Distribution, in Penrose, they do mufflers and things of that type. Went with 2" tube from the headers, an H-pipe, two 2" 14" long Coby resonators, 2" tube to a pair of rectangular box style straight through mufflers with a chamber in the middle. Goes pretty good, only set me back somewhere around $800. Some would have gone for 2.5" or 2.25", I probably should have gone for 2.25" but many people suggest that dual 2.0" tubes is ideal for a 4 liter engine of this type if you want to keep low end torque. -

Had the exhaust sorted out the other week. What do you think of the sound? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEKcFHAQfS8 Will get more, proper clips with better audio that you can also see when I have time. -
Haha!

Your shimmy would be cause by the thrust arm bushes and ball joints, as well as perhaps the E39 wheels if they dont have hub rings. Mines been like a new car since I sorted out my arms and put on different wheels to what I had.

Im after an X pipe, a proper stamped one. Not a kiss pipe or anything like that. Does anyone know places in NZ that sell them, import them or whatever? I know they are available overseas but it I'd rather try here first. Let me know if you can help!

E34 540i 1993 - Sound from drivers footwell?
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Electrical system
I do indeed, makes you wonder what the hell is happening under there! But as Brent says, its the fan flaps closing in a series. -
Ahh cool, that's what I was thinking. Will see how I go.

I'm thinking about doing my engine and trans mounts on my 540i. The tiny vibration at idle is annoying, so I'm guessing these units are shot and in need of replacing. Has anyone done them before? It's quite a tight space for the engine mounts by the looks so I can see them taking a while but the trans mounts at the back seem very easy.

How to get my E34 running Smooth.
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
They were balanced about a month ago. Still Id say they are partly to blame. It would now be in need of an alignment too. With things like this its a number of small issues that make up for one problem really. -

Interestingly Ive notice the vibration is still there but at 100-105km/h, so its clearly not only the thrust arms that cause this, more than likely the front control arm bushes/balljoints Ive got a pair to replace the old ones, just have not got around to it yet as they are a bit more difficult to replace. Hopefully they will remove the last trace of it, if not then I shall do the tie end rods.
