How much for the rims? I pay cash, choose your currency. Cheers, J

... or at least a small dot in the rear view mirror!

16s were optional, and I still think the rear spoiler is incorrect. The VIN number will give it away - should be 219XXX from memory, can point anyone interested in the right direction. My Evo I has fog lights - cooling ducts mainly on track cars, I am led to believe. Door sills don't have M3 on them (I don't remember anyway). Agreed, at $20k, possibly worth it, running the never be able to register risk, but would make a fun track car ... if only I had the garage space. Note Evo I not a Sport Evo (1990 onwards) but still only 505 built. I know of two of them in CHC, so it is 1 of 503 left!

My old 2002 Tii is for sale on Trade Me. Well worth it if anyone is after such a car. Trying to get $18k, but I sold it for $15.5k as an indicator, so that is the sort of money you are looking at. Goes like a cut cat. I would recommend (at least I would have when I sold it). J

Looks like a built up piece of ... if you ask me. Rear wing doesn't match an Evo I or II (looks like a Evo Sport Wing). My money is on buyer beware.

You can have mine for $70k

Reminds me of this time I was driving back to CHC from Blenheim in the M3. Cruising along behind these cars at 100 km/h waiting for a passing lane. It arrives, and in true NZ fashion, the cars in front of me accelerate to 130 km/h to ensure no one overtakes. So, I hang back, only to have an Audi Wagon (brand new, sports version) rip past me. I think to myself "he's going, I'm going" and pull out behind him and go for it. So we pass the four cars by the end of the passing lane, and the guy in the Audi is looking in his rear-view mirror, and only knowing modern cars thinks "old BMW" to himself and tries to drop the hammer. I keep my foot on the gas, and stick in behind him. He's getting annoyed that his 2003 model isn't pulling away from this mid-80s machine, and tries to pull away some more. I keep right in behind him. 150 km/h is a thing of the past as we make our way to CHC. Got the friendly "toot" as he peeled off (in Merivale) knowing he had met his match. Three hours flat, Blenheim BP to Papanui Road BP.

Champion - just whatever you can take. Probably most importantly whether it is RHD or LHD and what your general impressions are. Fazazz usually sells quite good stuff, so if it is up there, I'll get my mechanic to drop in. Could just be the second M car I buy sight unseen!Cheers for your help. J

If anyone gets some pics of this car, can you post / pass them on to me as I would be tempted to have a tap - M3 and M5 sitting in a garage would be a nice combination. J

Good M3's in the UK will go for more than that. Don't forget to add shipping costs and then on top of that, GST at 12.5% Also, you are using the current (and rather NZD favourable exchange rate). Then, and I'm not sure on this point - you may still need to convert to RHD? If so, factor another wadge of money. And, as Grant has suggested previously, rules may change in the interim. Add to that, as CW suggests, finding a good one is not easy. To counter, assuming all remains constant, you will be free to search and import, which might be to your advantage. I'd source from the US however, as dryer conditions will be better for the car as you will need to factor another 2-5 years of UK winters. Cost of rust removal, etc migh be prohibitive. To give you an idea, and I am happy to be laughed at, given the grief that it took to get my M3 on the road, you would be lucky to own it for less than NZD55k. If you were that lucky, I'd probably like you, h3ll, I'd probably invite you over to mom's place to f**k my sister (Full Metal Jacket to finish). My 2 cents. J

Correct - one original RHD E30 M3 - was the Australian show car. Now lives in AKL, but not sure if it is owned by Jerry Clayton.

Nice install - I shall photograph the install in the M3 and post one day. Totally removable for track days to save weight. Some ingenious work gone into that baby. That said, your install looks SO clean, I like it a lot.

Might have to have a go at this one. Does anyone know what happened to the black one they were selling for $20k?
-
Depends on definition of fully. Have intentions to stay in LON / NYC for quite some time, but still have property, cars, etc in New Zealand. Can't bear to part with them. Still, the M3 has to be increasing in value - it only turns over 200km a year!

Wagon no longer in the family - but is in Dunedin. Mom now driving Isuzu Mu so fits in with the other Merivale ladies - although she hasn't quite come to grips with the 12" sub douff douffing her!J
-
Thank you - London treats me well. Missing the M3 - but am budgeting for nine days of driving it in November. Any one south of Kaikoura and north of Dunedin, I apologise in advance for overtaking you, but time is precious! Cheers, J

Exactly - if you want to see the car because you are interested in buying it - go have a look. Satisfy yourself that it is / is not what you want and go from there.

A motorsport is just a 325i with kit - so it can be 100% motorsport - with everything, or 0% motorsport - if everything has been removed. I would at least want to see: - sports seats - lsd - 5spd box (not dog-leg) - steering wheel change - rear spoiler - front / rear / side kit if I was going to buy a motorsport. However, others may be happy with less. Let the buyer beware, and move on. BTW: I don't think the VIN registration is conclusive of anything, and I don't think BMW maintain a register of whether something is motorsport or not (or even sport or not).

Black, black, and more black. Although the 2002tii was classic 70s white - and that car was s3x on wheels. Ladies love the classic look ... unfortunately it only seems to be boy racers and old men in their souped up Audi wagons that want to have fun with the M3!

Keen on buying - let me know - are they sports seats?

My ex-1988 325i (with the 2.8) in it is for sale on trademe. Starting price of $9k is not bad. However, looks like it needs some paint work, but would be a bit of fun for someone. If I was in NZ, I'd probably buy it back.

on the 325 - c.16k on the M3 - c.40k

why isn't it fully stripped - ie, remove door panels, etc? Or am I missing something?

In my M3 I've got a Sony L-Cube (ie, no buttons) CD head unit that is mint and works well. Use Sony 5.25" components as rear fill and they are nice. Have a changer, but never use it as prefer to try and have an accident whilst fiddling with inserting a disc up front. In the Isuzu, I've got an old Sony CDX-480 (?) CD head unit that I've had since 1997 (CRX / 2002tii / Isuzu) which is still going strong and is my favourite due to the big mute button for when my bee-atches call on the mobile. I then try and have an accident by pushing the mute button with my left hand and answering the mobile with my right. If only the truck was automatic! Also in the Isuzu are Sony 5.25" for rear fill, two XM1502 amps (one bridged into the sub, the other running the front Audiophiles) and one Sony pentagonal 12" sub which CRANKS. Also a Sony changer (see above). What I am trying to say is that Sony is pretty good for what it does. Lets face it, a car isn't the best sound arena, so top dollar audiphile stuff just yells "steal me" whilst not giving alll that much improvement on gear half the price. Think what you spend on gear for the car v. what sits in your living room. I must admit, if I was redoing stuff now, I'd get the iPod head unit as there is NOTHING better than an iPod. My three cents. J
