  1. Could someone scan the advert and send it to me? Always dubious about "exotic" BMWs and what they are described as. For instance, the M3 bodied 325i in CHC, the "Schnitzer" 325 .... Cheers, J
  2. PT = close. KM had 2 genuine M3's for sale - the black Evo III for $55k at the time (oh, for some more savings) and the black Evo I (Evo II specs) which, as you might guess, I bought. Both were converted to RHD in CHC by Graeme Clyde. In addition, and also bought by the same purchaser as who bought the Evo III was (and I'm not sure if it was an M3 or a E30 3 series) but with a E36 M3 engine and 6 spd box in it - red targa car. Again, serviced by Graeme Clyde. As for 2 Evo IIIs being in the country - not as far as I am aware, although some b/s artists in CHC would lead you to believe there are. Hope this helps.
  3. Could be the one imported at the same time as mine - converted to rhd by Graeme Clyde in Christchuch. Nice, very nice. But at that price, I have my doubts as sounds as if it is being sold at a price less than it would have been purchased at. Worth a look in any event.

    Av Gas

Was going to run the '02 on it - but decided too hard to fill up!
  5. I think it used to be owned by James Daniels - who totalled it into a wall in a celebrity race - and it was rebuilt. But, I could be wrong. J
  6. Whether or not to take insurance is simple maths. If you can afford to replace the item, DO NOT insure it. If you cannot afford to replace the item, insure it. Put another way, if I could afford two of them, I don't insure. J
  7. Graeme Clyde, GAC, CHC might have the moulds for an Alpina front dam for a 2002. Was going to have it moulded up and put on my '02 - but impractical for a street car. Might be worth a call. J
  8. My 325i Sport just sold (so I am informed) for c.13k about six months ago. If anyone has a copy of the January 2004 NZ Classic Cars, two BMWs I owned were for sale in it - has to be a record? I agree with a lot of the comments above. It only takes one fool to pay too much - but if a seller can get it, go for it. Always price high and come down. From a buyer's perspective - at the point of purchase is the ONLY time that you have total control, and you need to be careful - unless the cash you are spending is "chump change" and / or you are prepared to write the value of your purchase down to $0 immediately. Personally, I would not pay above $15k for a E30 325i of ANY variety (incl. Sport or MS). Now, bias aside, an M3 is different and is worth a lot, lot more. For instance, you would NOT get my M3 for less than $55k and I have no prospect of driving it for more than 1/52 weeks a year in the foreseeable future. So, in summary - sellers - go for it, buyers - be careful and think hard. J
  9. Guess they haven't had some pimply face kid who CAN'T drive kill members of their family / friends on the open road?It was f*cking stupid - but then I guess age and maturity allows me to see that.
  10. CaM - I'm sorry I don't know how to take your post, but I certainly stand by my Darwinism call. What I could do, however, to give you a better chance of living a long, healthy life, is to forward the link to the clip to the police? Just say if you would like me to?
  11. Just stupid. Hoping Darwinism hits those idiots!
  12. It isn't getting caught - it is when insurance doesn't pay out on your $25,000 car that you start to feel the love!

    chip

I had a chip programmed for my 2.8 rebuild. Done in CHC - Graeme Clyde of GAC will know who/how, etc. I think c.$1,000 it cost. Never drove the car, so can't comment on performance - but know the car went like a cut cat.

    E30 M3

Is the red one for sale as well as the black one? Or is the red one the targa car that Magnum's were putting together? Whilst on the subject of M3s - can anyone (most likely CiLK WuRM) tell me what is special about an M3 Schnitzer? Cheers, J
  15. without a WOF is illegal .... chop, chop, chop!
  16. Isn't that illegal?I look forward to this car being taken off the road and being cut in half.
  17. Think carefully! Otherwise, I'll be buying an E30 M3 engine and parts from an advertisement reading something like "BMW project, floundered, ran out of cash, parts for sale ...." Buying the car is only half of it - maintaining it is the other!I agree 20 is young to be looking at E36 M3s and spending $24-30k on a car. But, a good E30 M3 engine will set you back $10k minimum - although CiLK WuRM is my supply side economist and might have a better idea? If raw speed (fast / quick for the pedants) is what you want - go Japanese.
  18. No, no, I think it is a good idea - wreck a perfectly good E30 M3 (after all, only c.17,000 EVER made) and put the mechanics in a mass produced E36. Alternative, find E30 M3 engine and running gear - hmmn, not going to be cheap considering the number of owners who would buy just for spares. Solution: buy an E36 M3 - they are cheap as chips now!
  19. For three years, my 2002tii got WOFs no problem, then one day, out of the blue - FAILED "you need park lights sunny". "But sir, six WOFs previously have said otherwise". I think many WOF people can only handle the stock standard stuff, and get uneasy / unsure / make it up regarding classics, etc. IMHO
  20. LHD M3 (1987) for sale in CHC - or at least a month ago there was. Didn't look too bad - unless you want it on the road before 2007? J
  21. someone can have the spoiler off of my M3 .... .... PSYCH!
  22. You could remove the tank - but I would suggest that would devalue the car. I have found that my fuel gauge reads purely off of the main tank and not the secondary. But I usually refuel on 1/4 so as to not get any sh1t in the engine (whether wives tale or not). Still takes c.$45 to fill. And remember, you are going to have to fill your tank at sometime, so it doesn't really matter what lower level you set it. Petrol won't create itself.
  23. Have one in the M3 - l.r. tank that is. Makes for good long distance, no stop, in a hurry driving. Cuts out a bit of boot space though. Moreso with the 2x10" subs as well plus the two amps. I think I can get a spare g-string in the boot for the missus when we go away - god I love three day weekends!
  24. Not an Evo Sport - unless someone has cannabalised it for the proper seats! And, I believer there to be only one in the country - currently in CHC.
