  1. There are a few. Here is one, however it will more or less do the same thing as your stock one unless you running you engine at high RPM alot. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1352-afe...0i-stage-i.aspx It will give you a bit more induction noise and help in higher RPM ranges but thats about it. Same story with intake is you need to make changes out the other end too (Exhaust) to gain any benefits. After this a remap.
  2. The same, it is just re-useible is about the only difference. Ooo and you get a sticker.
  3. I would go somewhere were they have experience in such things EG BMW specialist shop. I'm not point fingers at mechanics but most in NZ are use to fixing you run of the mill mazda or toyota and things like voltage drop or other causes dont really factor into their diagnositic work because they just dont know or have lack of experience in such things. The e39 really is a driving computer system.
  4. Yes they will fit but its up to you if you want to run the next width size down.
  5. are you sure ? What error codes did the mechanic come back with ? What actually happened when it went into 'fail safe' mode ?
  6. Could be anything, Another one is the auto trans fluid over heating because the 'heat exchanger' attached the bottom of the radiator is poked. Once the gear box temp gets above a certain level the EGS holds gears all the way up till 4000rpm before changing and also the changes are quite rough or abrupt. It settles down when a bit of air flow over the radiator happens for around 5-10mins. There are two - three stages before it throws a full spaz. Starting and stopping the car does work either, only letting the gearbox fluid cool down. This is the EGS's last line of defense against over heated trans fluid. Anyways, thats what a lot of people confuse limp mode being .. There are others.
  7. Define 'fail-safe' ? There a couple of things that could mean both completely different.
  8. Just phone him, youll get a reply faster
  9. I have a set of Dunlop Direzza 225/40R18's second hand ill let go for $400 for the lot. Plenty of tread (around 80%) few rub marks from the e30 but are fine. PM me if your interested. Took them off as I went for a lower profile for the e30's 18s
  10. those rears would rock 215s sweet as bae
  11. hmmm I _think_ ray might have some .. 021 2 hellbm. I have this on my 540, defanitly a vast improvement over wood grain.
  12. Hmmm just looking at glenn's subfram pics .. it doesnt even look like its possible to move them at all on the current subframe setup. I like westies idea of running e46 gear and e46 rear pan cut may as well do what hes done with his e30. That way you can still use stock parts.
  13. Yea, If he wants wide body like this. Just running low wheel offsets wont really cut it on a rally car as gravel tires are skinny.
  14. Barry, Steve I was thinking a little bit more after your phone call about the m-coupe trailing arms. You can always extend the trailing arm track by moving the swing arm points which are going to need up rating anyways. This will give you the 15-20cm more track each arm you're after. You'll likely need to uprate the 318 halfshafts anyways so I would suggest getting a set of custom shafts or from a 540/x5 and machined hub splines and diff flange splines needed for rally demands (common failure points in BMW drive train under loads). You would also need to increase the front track as well and move the towers mount points outward, however doing some homework around ackerman angles and etc. This would fill those flared gaurds quite nicely.
  15. rough rule of thumb. Take the big ticket items cost and double it = conversion cost all up after customising parts / balancing costs. Unless your extremely lucky and come across a full manual conversion 'kit' with all the bits.
  16. Contact insurance company ... im sure your not the only one. OEM paint doesnt just do that. PS this is why I wax my car(s) if I know there going to be parked at say the airport for extended periods of time. Stops damage to the paint including beading and sunspots.
  17. That has to be one of the biggest come backs since Bill Clinton. awesome DIY work!
  18. Contact your insurance company to organise it.
  19. If you can prove it was it was something external, your insurance will cover this.
  20. I won't be making this unfortunately .. few issues I need to sort with the car I couldn't get done in time.
  21. Wow and I thought mine was tidy! .. your interior is great!
  22. Sweet photo of my cat just now! he's not moving unfortunitly
  23. I hate to say it .. but BMW is a very market driven company. There are very few regions that support DVB-T MPEG4 / H264 yet unfortunatly. In NZ there are not that many cars with TV being sold new. the crappy thing is, its only a firmware thing to support mpeg4/h264. You should see how slow BMW NZ are with putting out Nav map disk updates ...
  24. Time for that MPEG4/h264 DVB-T controlled via ibus/most tuner then Jochen! I have seen that french site's project .. anything ever happen to that in the end ?
